I am up early today so took the liberty of starting a new week here.
I just finished Confessions of a Little Black Gownby Elizabeth Boyle.
I loved this book. It had a nice mix of intrigue, humor and of course romance.
My review can be found at http://gigisthoughtsandideas.blogspot.com.
I am off to buy her next book Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress. In the meantime I am going to start Secret Wedding by Jo Beverley. That is after I start my seeds and plant some new perennials.

Have fun gardening pmpayne. It's raining like h... here but maybe it will clear up and I can do some planting too.

I just finished Always Dakota by Debbie Macomber. It was just ok. I am now reading The Last Camel Died at Noon by Elizabeth Peters. I just love Amelia Peabody mysteries.

Good morning everyone - its only 7:30am here CA so I finishied Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward over the weeked & just loved it. I think it is the best so far out of the series. But, again I am now dying for the next one :}
I just started The Secret by Julie Garwood and so far I'm really enjoying it. This is the 2nd book from this author I've read & I have 2 more sitting at home to read - I really enjoy her stories.

>#3, scrpo1027, enjoy. I loved The Bride and The Prize by Julie Garwood but have not read The Secret yet. You tempt me to stop by the library in my travels today.

I'm reading Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Cruise. I got to meet all three authors at our local bookstore and I've been dying to get started on this one!

I've been MIA again for the past few weeks... Sigh. I can't wait until finals are over with!

I'm finishing up two books right now; Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (I'm enjoying it a lot, still have to read The Da Vinci Code), along with The Truelove Bride by Shana Abe (Which I'm undecided on so far, it's a bit slow to build, but I have hope for it still).

I just finished Susan Wiggs' Charm School and absolutely loved it. It did have some problems (the ending felt rushed to me, and I would have liked a little more interaction between the hero and heroine), but the characters were so well-written and the story was so simple yet engaging, that those small quibbles were easily overlooked.

Next up for me is the second in the series: The Horsemaster's Daughter.

Just finished The Wedding by Julie Garwood now I'm starting the next book in the series Ransom - The Wedding was very good & funny - I am really enjoying her work because of her sense of humor. I really makes her books.

Oh, I really liked Dogs and Goddesses. I am reading Tall, Dark and Hungry by Lynsay Sands. I started Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress but got bored. I'll go back eventually. The Black Dress one was great! I just finished the Christine Feehan, Burning Wild, and didn't much care for it. I thought it had a great beginning but the ending was really weak (and the middle was just sex).

Ditto on Dogs and Goddesses, a friend passed it on to me and I was reluctant to read it since I didn't enjoy Jennifer Crusie's last collaborative effort. I really liked it, I wish I had a dog that talked :)

I just finished Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris which was pretty good. She always puts her characters through the wringer and this time was no exception.

So far Dogs and Goddesses is great! I'm listening to it on CD so it's going really fast. I hope they plan on sequeling it with talking cats. Maybe i can start some fanfic writings of my own and call it "Cats and Queens."

My favorite book is Stuck in Shangri La by Kasey Michaels mostly because of the talking cat, Lucky. Although, I'll be honest, sometimes my cats are so expressive I swear they're talking too!

I'm also reading Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon. I've been in the mood for something funny and this is really tickling my funny bone.

I'm currently reading Danger In A Red Dress & it's okay so far - hope it picks up some. I don't know if it's the mood I've been in lately or what, but I haven't had that "couldn't put it down" feeling about a book for a while now.

My copy of Smooth Talking Stranger arrived to day so I started it this afternoon, looks like I will finish it quite quickly as it is so so good. It has had me smiling at the end of every chapter so far, Lisa Kleypas never fails, I just love her work, romantic or contemporary.

Hi yall - I haven't been here in a while, so I thought I'd check in. I had my baby on Apr. 20th, but he was 6 weeks early so we just got him home from the hospital finally yesterday.

Needless to say, I've been a bit busy, but I did have time to read one book in the past few weeks: Simply Perfect by Mary Balogh. It was pretty good, but I found it a little melancholy in tone and it wasn't quite as good as some of her other work. I'm still looking forward to checking out her new series, though.

This week I'm reading My Lord and Spymaster by Joanna Bourne. I heard it talked up a lot here so I thought I'd try it out. So far I'm really liking it - It's nice to have something good to read during those late-night feedings!

I am reading Highland Scandal by Julia London. It is not historical fiction or romantic historical fiction just straight romance, so this is going to be a departure for me. However, I did like Susan Carrolls Bridefinder series so I'm hoping I get the same kind of fix from Highland Scandal.

Congratulations, katybear! I'm glad your little one is home safe now and that you're back on your feet again.

I just finished Marion Chesney's Plain Jane. It's the second in her 'House for the Season' series but can be read independently without any problems. Fun book! Both the hero and heroine are very engaging and the continuing secondary crew of servants who staff the "house' of the series title are wonderful.

I've started The Master of Blacktower. So far, it seems like it should be a very good Gothic romance with strong suspense elements. Much like Michael's classic Black Rainbow, which I read earlier this year and absolutely loved.

Congratulations katybear. So glad your little one is home with you now. Enjoy him!
I absolutely loved My Lord and Spymaster. I hope you enjoy it.

How wonderful, katy, congratulations!

I finished Danger in A Red Dress last night & enjoyed it. Next up is Vision in White which I picked up from the library last night. I've read good reviews of it - hope it lives up to them.

katybear, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations! Blessings on your newborns.

scarpetta, Since you liked the Bridefinder, you might also like Susan Carroll's Queen series and/or Patricia Rice's Magic series.

I'm reading Aunt Dimity Digs In right now. I am trying not to buy the new Charlaine Harris Dead and Gone but may not be able to wait on the library. I'm 56 out of 98 in the holds list... :)

Congratulations, Katybear! I hope he grows big and strong! ;) Enjoy your Mother's Day weekend, too. :D

I finished up Immortal Danger by Cynthia Eden, and I loved it! It was fast, sexy, and very good. Cant wait to read more of her work.

Moving on to a nonfiction for my 999 Challenge, The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner (loved the movie, but never read the book first, so I'm going to now).

Also, starting on an ARC of Highland Obsession by a new author, Dawn Halliday. Loving it! I'm so glad that she sent me one, I can't thank her enough! ;) It's not out until August, I believe, but I know a few of you would will love it. Put it on your lists, lady!

Happy Mother Days' (a bit early) to any and all mothers/grandmothers. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Katybear, congratulations! What a great weekend this is going to be for you.

I'm reading Unlacing Lily by Gail Ranstrom. It's good, but not great.

I just finished The Charm Stone by Donna Kauffman, a different sort of romance about a modern day surfer girl who meets a medieval Scottish laird - not bad!

Finished Smooth Talking Stranger within the day.....it was another fabulous book by Ms Kleypas.
Am 3 chapters into Wicked Angel by Julia London and it is good so far, she's a widowed countess down on her luck and he is a Duke who is betrothed to someone else.....its quite promising.

So I started this goal of reading the whole Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn.. um... back in January :D I've been bad and not reading as much as I'd like to. However, I'm committed to reaching that goal, so I'm reading It's In His Kiss this week, then one last book and I'd have read the whole series!

Lately though, I've taken to reading quick Harlequin Presents stuff, all that good stuff. I've also been reading the whole Trek Mi Q'an series and Death Row Trilogy by Jaid Black, which I actually enjoyed.

After that, need to find something else to read for next week.

I've been trying to read Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress by Elizabeth Boyle and just can't get interested. It is partly rehash of the first two books. Dash is a womanizing drunk and Pippin is just irritating. Am I the only one to feel this way? I really liked the first two books...

I read J.D. Robb's Rapture in Death (still working my way through the series), and started Cathy Maxwell's The Lady Is Tempted. Loved Rapture in Death and I'm really enjoying The Lady is Tempted so far.

I just finished listening to Spell of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning. Oh. My. God. I am love with the narrators voice. I think this was my favorite book in the series, or a close 2nd to Kiss of the Highlander. Great book! And listening to it was the best - my first time for this series!

I started In A Wild Wood by Sasha Lord today and am enjoying it so far. This is another highlander romance novel which are usually hit or miss for me.

CONGRATULATIONS KATYBEAR!! So glad you and your little one are home safe and healthy. What a great mother's day.

Katybear, if you get a chance, read At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh. I thought it was one of her best books ever.

I just finished It's In His Kiss by Julia Quiin, which I loved. I have On the Way to the Wedding but I'll finish up a mystery I started earlier in the week.

Thanks, everyone, for all of the congratulations and well-wishes. This is such a thoughtful group!

mamalaz - Thanks for the input on the new Mary Balogh. I'm definitely planning to read this new series! And I feel compelled to tell you not to put off On the Way to the Wedding for too long - I thought it was one of the best of that entire series.

Just finished Whisper of Roses by Teresa Medeiros, a highlander romance. It was okay, but something was lacking in it. Sometimes I really liked it, but then other times I just wanted it to be over with so I could read something else! It took me a while to like the hero too. I remember I felt this way about the last book I read of hers as well.
