I just listened to a fascinating podcast of an interview with Steve Zipperstein who just published a bio of Isaac Rosenfeld.
Rosenfeld grew up in Chicago - he was close to Bellow who was 2 years his senior. Bellow considered Rosenfeld to be his intellectual superior yet Rosenfeld died at an early age and, not unlike Delmore Schwartz, his life represented a failure of promise.
the podcast discusses Rosenfelds essays in Commentary Magazine and his novel Passage From Home.
Here is the podcast link from NEXTBOOK.
