Stop Pretending: What happened when my big sister went crazy is a GREAT book in verse.
Identical is also great but in a different way.
Those are really the only good ones I know of.

Anything by Ellen Hopkins. (My personal favorite is Impulse.)

Make Lemonade and sequels by Virginia Euwer Wolff.

I also second the recommendations for Stop Pretending, Brimstone Journals and A Bad Boy Can Be Good For a Girl.

Oh, and God Went to Beauty School wasn't bad either. It's been a while since I read it and I didn't think it lived up to all the hype, but it was good.

I love verse fiction, and have lots of entries in this account. Favourite authors include Patricia McCormick, Karen Hesse, Sharon Creech and Stephen Herrick. A fantastic new title is Against the tide by Irini Savvides.

At our library we recently got Because I am furniture by Thalia Chaltas which has been getting a lot of buzz.

Anything by Stephen Herrick if you can get hold of him where you are - contemporary, often dealing with the preoccupations of teens, humorous, Australian.

I heard good things about Sharp Teeth (about werewolves).

One of our books (about two teenage boys living during the Spanish Inquisition): The Apprentice's Masterpiece by Melanie Little.

@20: Sharp Teeth is awesome, but not really young adult. There's some very adult stuff in there, including a sex scene that borders on bestiality. Which is not to say that I wouldn't recommend it to a more mature teen or in general for adults.

I also recommend Crank by Ellen Hopkins. It's actually the first book of a series

Ellen Hopkins, as others mentioned.
Miranda_Paige mentioned I heart you you haunt me by Lisa Schroeder and she just came out with another book Far From You and soon Chasing Brooklyn.

I know that this has been mentioned a few times before, but song of the sparrow was an amazingly good book. Last summer I went through reading a bunch of YA verse novels and that was by far the best one that I read. It was such a great take on a rather old story.

I know I heart you, you haunt me has already been mentioned, as has What My Mother Doesn't Know, I also enjoyed What My Girlfriend Doesn't Know, Breaktime and Love, Ghosts and Nose Hair by Steven Herrick.

Ellen Hopkins has a new book out called Tricks, which looks at 5 teens who become involved in prostitution, their experiences and the efforts made by some to help the kids stop turning tricks. Very gritty, doesn't shy away from grim reality, but very readable. You hope and hope they're going to make it, as you read why it happens and what happens to each teen.

This is actually something Ive never heard of so I had a look around the internet to see exactly what a verse novel was.

Upon looking at booklists It appears Ive never read one... so Ill have to do so.

One said book list looked promising and can be found here:
