Okay the whole Team Edward Team Jacob thing is stupid!
Frist of all Meyer had brought jacob back into the secound book because he was a minor charater in the first book and also he was put in the book to become bella's friend! When did the two of them become a compition.Yeah Jacob did like Bella but when Edward left I don't think all of us where as stupid as Bella and thought that he accuatually ment it!!! Secound of all when edward left you had to know he was coming back and that never in a million years would Bella acctually like anyone but edward. Thrid of all after saying all this stuff when did the teams come into play???

2VetaTorres
The teams came into play when some readers liked jacob more than edward. I pretty much agree with you on everything else but i do like jacob better than edward. the whole romeo & juliet status relationship between bella and edward made me wanna puke. jacob was more real and well healthy for bella. edward is like a drug for bella and i don't dig it but i guess that's cuz i'm too independent.
4VetaTorres
yes i suppose he is the gentleman, i probably just don't like him because everyone else likes hime and i don't like to conform lol
5nele95
No I like Edward better because he is IDK but yesterday I reread mos of the seris and I now like all the charaters equallly!!!
6VetaTorres
I'd have to say I'm drawn to Carlisle because he's been around so long but each character does have their quirk that makes them endearing
8kinaco-chan
i know i dont get it whats the point of having teams
9kinaco-chan
i know i dont get it whats the point of having teams
11ragulto101
They probably have teams just to argue about who's hot and who's not.IDK.....
12VetaTorres
basicallly. they are very overrated
14SecretariatGirl
I don't like Twilight!
16VetaTorres
i like you already secretariagirl
17ragulto101
DEFINITELY....
But Twilight is one of my faves......
But Twilight is one of my faves......
19VetaTorres
>17 ragulto101: wait until u discover the world of literature then u'll see its not that great. u should read the reviews for the series by wisewoman she goes indepth and shows just how ridiculous the series is.
21SecretariatGirl
There is so much good stuff out there...I have yet to read Twilight but from what I've heard it's not really even well written! Why waste your time arguing over teams?
22ragulto101
I haven't read the books but I have seen the movie. And I give the movie a thumbs up. The books? like I said haven't read them....people are so crazy about getting those Twilight books! It's crazy! Even my friend all the way in Philippines wants the books!
What's so great about them?
What's so great about them?
23VetaTorres
girls just like the emotion they get and the idea of being in love, true & "undying" love (no pun intended lol)
24VetaTorres
oh & reggie i meant check out reviews of the series & read the ones by the LT member Wisewoman she goes in depth to what is good and what is not (there's alot of bad)
26ragulto101
k I'LL CHECK IT OUT...
LOL. Calm down Helen.
LOL. Calm down Helen.
27VetaTorres
um i swear read the review u'll see it differently
28VetaTorres
btw it doesn't have good writing
30VetaTorres
well it has shity syntax and diction, and it takes like 5 pages for bella to talk about how gorgeous edward is, its overkill. none of the characters have healthy relationships. bella only marries edward bcuz she wants to f*** him. and she wants a pity party becuz 2 hot guys like her. give me a break!
31ragulto101
for realz? whoa......
32VetaTorres
seriously
33ragulto101
I thought she married him cuz she REALLY REALLY wanna be with him......I haven't red the books but my friends who have red them always said that they love each other SO SO much.
34VetaTorres
yeah, yeah, really bella has too many hormones
*but don't take my word for it am i cynic*
*but don't take my word for it am i cynic*
35ragulto101
K.
37VetaTorres
yes as i said im a cynic, analytical, logical, and a pessimist so...
39ragulto101
Yeah what does those words mean?
cynic means mean and evil right?
cynic means mean and evil right?
40VetaTorres
actually no.
Cynic:a person who believes that only selfishness motivates human actions and who disbelieves in or minimizes selfless acts or disinterested points of view.
Analytical:pertaining to or proceeding by analysis
Logic(logical):reason or sound judgment
Pessimist:a person who habitually sees or anticipates the worst or is disposed to be gloomy.
helps if u look up words in the dictionary rather than assume what they mean

42ragulto101
you should buy an Iquest. It has a dictionary. So you just type the word then the meaning of the word will come up.
But it needs these reelly tiny batteries though.
-----------------------------------------------
Anyway let's just stop this argument about whether Twilight books are awesome or not. It's a silly argument....I mean we all have our own perspective.

43VetaTorres
actually if you are on the internet you can just go on Dictionary.com
45ragulto101
ok guys.....lets just change the subject.
46VetaTorres
isn't what, what u basically said... that looking up words takes too long. so when you read a book and don't understand a word u just skip it?
47ragulto101
no....I write it down in my reading notebook then I look it up.
48VetaTorres
that's understandable but just accepting that you don't know a word is gonna make your teachers crazy. My English AP teacher get pissed when the class doesn't know what a word means and then gives us a pop quiz on whatever we were reading.
49nele95
no about stoping the argument. Duh
dude you should find a really weird word that nobody knows the defention to and then ask her.
dude you should find a really weird word that nobody knows the defention to and then ask her.
50ragulto101
that happens in my english ADV too. She gets that look on her face when she asks us what a word means and no one answers then she claims that we should know the meaning of the word.
51VetaTorres
actually my teacher is a man, a bald man to be exact and i think he has constant PMS....
52SecretariatGirl
I like knowing what words mean but when you're reading something with LOTS of new words and are on like the 50th word to look up, I just pretend I know what it means. LOL
55ragulto101
Me.. when that happens I just use context clues to figure out the meaning because it takes me a long time to finish the book if I have to keep stoping during while I am reading to look p a word.
56SecretariatGirl
Same here!
58SecretariatGirl
We're girls...it comes naturally. I assume you guys are all going to see New Moon?
60jettblack28
im gonna see New Moon
61iwams6
#21&22-you have to read the books before you watch the movies. There are so many more details than what u see in the movies and by reading the books you get to know the characters A LOT better.
62jettblack28
i did read the books
64SecretariatGirl
Should I read the books? I dunno. I'm a 'good Christian girl and said I wasn't but I read pretty raunchy/grotesque stuff...hmmmm
65VetaTorres
its not raunchy, not even close. i mean theres nothing super bad in it. i mean i'm sure you don't believe in vampires and werewloves and it does really advocate horrible behavior. it's nothing worse then a teen soap..
66jettblack28
read the books! ull love them. i do
67jettblack28
i have twilight chocolates. lol
68SecretariatGirl
Thanks guys...I think i'll read the first one just to see what the hype's all about. :)
70jettblack28
read them all
72jettblack28
yea im renforcing u
74jettblack28
im agreeing wit u
76jettblack28
Well!

78SecretariatGirl
Darn, was at the library today and forget to get it...oh well, next time!
79VetaTorres

The Myth, Legend and Reality of the Vampire
From the beginning of history, vampire-like spirits and beings have been recorded. Vampire legends have a distinct background bridging several cultures and eras, making them some of the most compelling stories ever told.
Vampires and vampire legend play significant roles in the cultures of many areas around the world. These blood-sucking beings are most common in the cultures of Eastern Europe, although similar manifestations are reported in some Asian cultures as well as some ancient cultures. Vampire legends have a distinct background bridging several cultures and eras, making them some of the most compelling stories ever told.
The first step in understanding vampire lore is to understand some of the biological reasons that may have led to such beliefs. One of the most plausible explanations for vampire myths is the disease porphyria, which occurred frequently in Transylvania. Porphyria is a blood-related condition where a vital function of blood cells is lost. This results in rapid tissue damage, giving the victim a ghastly pallor and enlarged teeth due to gum damage. The effects of porphyria are greatly amplified upon exposure to the sun, making sun light a likely threat victims would try to avoid at all costs. It is also believed that certain strains of porphyria are associated with neurological conditions, which would result in insanity. This condition also explains the practice of drinking blood, as these people would likely drink animal blood as a cure for the anemia associated with porphyria. Another explanation for this legend is the disease rabies, as it leads to hypersensitivity, unusual sleep patterns, and intense sexuality. Rabies is also associated with the compulsion to bite others, and a bloody foaming at the mouth. These two diseases could possibly explain the origins of vampire legends, and perhaps also why they are so widespread.
From the beginning of history, vampire-like spirits and beings have been recorded. The Akhkharu were blood-sucking demons, written about back in the time of Sumer. The ancient Chinese wrote about "hopping corpses" which would go around and consume a victim’s life essence (commonly known as chi). Even ancient Egyptian lore had a story where the goddess Sakhmet was consumed with bloodlust. From the earliest of times, vampire like beings have been prominent in folklore from several different cultures.
The most well-known versions of vampire myth are those of the Slavic and Romanian cultures, which, due to their proximity, are surprisingly similar. Both have several reasons that a person may become a vampire, such as unnatural death, birth defects, or conception on certain days. Romanian legend gave rise to the belief that being bitten by a vampire would doom one to become a vampire after death. Both Slavic and Romanian myths hold the belief that, with the advent of a vampire, there would be deaths of livestock and family members of the vampire. The favored way to kill a vampire in these two myths is by driving a stake through the heart, decapitation, and if necessary, dismemberment. Slavic and Romanian vampire myths have given rise to the most popular world-view of vampires.
Vampire legends have played a significant role in the folklore of many regions of the world, since the beginning of history in Sumer, and they will continue to be important through such media as movies, books, and video games well into the future.

Brazil: The Jaracaca which attacks only young mothers with babies
Elizabeth of Bathory
Was born 1560 (Hungarian)
Elizabeth murdered over 650 girls for her "beauty baths" which she "discovered" after she struck a servant one day and the servant's blood dropped on her hand. She felt that human blood seemed to make her skin soft and supple
Castle Csejthe (her home in the Northwest of Hungary) gets turned into a torture chamber. Young girls were lured to the castle on pretence of $$$ and employment ("service) by accomplices (two "witches," Dorottya Szentes & Darvula)
One day a servant girl who was combing her hair accidentally pulled her hair and when Elizabeth slapped her some blood spurted on to her hand which she subsequently became convinced that the skin became more supple and smooth
Countess also used an iron maiden for extracting blood
One of her victims escaped and went to King Mathias II of Hungary who commissioned an inquiry. Her castle is raided on Dec 30, 1610
All were brought to trial in January/February 1611 in Bitcse
After the trial all her accomplices (including nurse Iilona Joo) were tortured, beheaded & then cremated (some accounts also say burned alive)
Iilona Joo and Dorottya Szentes also had their fingers torn out individually and were then burned alive
Johanes Vjvary testified that 37 girls were tortured and killed and Ilona Joo said 40 were tortured and killed
Because of her eminence she was imprisoned (rather than executed and sealed in a room by a stone mason in her castle. Food was slipped through a tiny slot. She died 3 years later
The Bathories were tied to Vlad the Impaler
*horrified*

113ragulto101
hey I finally got Along for the Ride by Sarah. I loved it. I wonder if Sarah will make a sequel to it...
114mktomberlin93
ok i know this is quite off the subject... but if you want to read a really great work of literature having to do with vampires and all that, i really recommend Dracula. i know it sounds so cliche or whatever but i prefer the "original" vampire book more than the new ones. just an opinion, but if you want an interesting read i recommend it. Twilight series vs. Dracula... i think Dracula would win....
115VetaTorres
i've been wanting to read Dracula I just haven't got around to reading it.
oh and we are always off topic, lol, no worries :)

Exactly Thank You!!!
But i do have to say that me and my cousin (a guy a may point out) got in a huge argument about jacob when we read the first book. It was actualy really funny.
But even though your a guy you should read the books they are really good. When and if you do read Twilight then you'll hate the movie.
Oh yeah did i tell you guys i'm not allowed to see new moon. I complained too much in Twilight that everyone(my friends) think I'm going to comlain through New Moon. But i am curoius to see it.

Hahaha, I haven't seen New Moon yet. Had no desire to spend $10 to see it at the movies. I'll wait til one of my friends has it on DVD and borrow it lol
125jettblack28
nooo, jacob is waaay better so people side with him XD
127jettblack28
(by this i mean hotter than Rob Patterson)
128jettblack28
it is the same person
129VetaTorres
well I like Jacob better and I like Taylor better...
132VetaTorres
if u didn't get what i meant, I like the character Jacob. And I like the actor who plays him better than anyone else on the twilight cast
movies are never exactly like the book. the movie is catering to teenage girls so obviously the director is gonna want a good looking guy.
& i never said jacob was right for bella. i hate bella's character cuz she's an idiot, so i would not want her with a character i do like.

I'm finally reading Breaking Dawn... I'm on the Jacob section. I really wish Meyer would have had different view points in the other books... I like Jacob's bitterness and pessimism, lol
136VetaTorres
yeah that would be cool. did you hear about the new novella she wrote about one of the newborns from Eclipse?

mmhhmm :)
142mellymel171328
Twilight is imperfect, hormonal and cliche... To be honest that is what I love about it! It is this stupid crazy useless romance that wouldn't be even rational in the real world and I just find it refreshing. Everyone is so cynical and reads into things too much, why not just push everything else out of your head and just enjoy the book as a book? Then again I am not some hormonal teenager stuck over the sides, or really care whose better then the other...
143VetaTorres
i mean i loved reading the books too, but when girls start to gush about how great the book is... i have to set them straight... there are soo many books in the world (good ones too, better than the Twilight S***, i mean Saga) that I hope they realize there are things outside of it.
Not gonna lie, I'm going to the midnight showing of Eclipse and I'm wearing a Team Charlie shirt!

well they aren't a friend then... btw if it were me i would've punched her in the face after she slapped me...
147mellymel171328
That's stupid.... violence over books? Why?
