This is a big challenge for me and to be honest, I may not make it. My New Year's resolution this year was to read at least 2 books a month, this will obviously step that up a bit, but, seeing as how I have been flying through books lately, I can give a shot. So far,
1. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, finished this one just a couple days after the new year, however, I started this one before 2007, but I'm gonna count it anyways.
2. The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. This was one I have been wanting to read since I saw them movie ages ago.
3. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. I started reading the Harry book's about two years ago, finally had to see what all the hype was about. I have to say they are pretty good, for YA fantasy.
Currently reading Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill. I am a middle school teacher and I have started a Fantasy Book Club at my school, and this is the first book we are going to read, I have heard good things.
Anyways, as anyone can see, I am a YA fantasy reader, love the stuff. I got into it to help my students and to give them recommendations, but it really started with my love of Tolkien. Besides, most fantasy is YA to some extent anyways.
Don't know where the fancy counters came from, but 3 down, 47 to go. Happy reading to all.

If you're interested in the fancy counters, just click on one of them, should be a link to the website. Good luck!

Finished Cry of the Icemark and I have started reading Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud. This is the second book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy.

6. The Kingdom of the Golden Dragon by Isabella Allende. Also a second in a series. Not as good as the first, but I enjoyed it, quick read.

7. The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett. This is a great take on the Pied Pipper story. My first Pratchett book, I thought his writing was good and look forward to more of his books.
8. A Time to Kill by Grisham. Typical Grisham, there is a small time lawyer, big case, unbeatable odds, and a victory in the end.

How was the Dave Berry Peter Pan story? I must admit to being morbidly curious, since the original Peter Pan tale has been a favorite of mine since childhood.

I enjoyed it. It has all the elements of Peter Pan, flying, pirates, mermaids, and such, but also has a unique twist to the story. It is definetly YA however and if you do not typically enjoy that I would avoid it. I am looking forward to reading the next one myself.

12. Artemis Fowl the Arctic Incident by Eoin Colfer. Pretty juvenille, but fun. Many of my students have read this series so I am trying to stay on top of what is popular at my school.

If you like YA (plus for your Fantasy book club) I recommend the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series - The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan (Titan's Curse is coming out next Tuesday) - and The Faerie Wars, Purple Emperor, and Ruler of the Realm by Herbie Brennan.
I just finished all of them and they were great! I definitely look forward to many sequels.
P.S. I love YA books too...they're fun, with great stories and fast reading.
Plus I'm kind of like you. I work in a bookstore and I like to be able to recommend books in that genre to the kids and parents who come in.

Thanks for the recommendations, I recently bought the first two Percy Jackson and the Olympians books but have not yet read them. I have seen some kids with The Faerie Wars books, they look pretty interesting. I am currently reading Vampirates by Justin Somper, seems pretty good so far. Take care.

15. Vampirates by Somper, pretty good book, started a little slow but left you wanting more in the end.
16. The Hobbit by Tolkien, not the first time to read this one and won't be the last. If you have never read The Hobbit, you need to.
17. Mort by Pratchett, my third discworld novel and probably the best one yet.
