My family is planning a vacation in Nova Scotia next August. We like to car camp, bike, hike and kayak. Any suggested reading ?

I suggest you go to www.nimbus.ns.ca/Store/tabid/901/List/1/Default.aspx and browse their books. Nimbus is a publishing company located in Halifax and they publish guide books (e.g.' Discover NS Guide Lighthouses by David Stephens & Susan Randles), history (e.g., The Town that Died, A Chronicle of the Halifax Disaster by Michael Bird) and lots more.

I don't know where you are, but unless you take the ferry from Maine you will pass through New Brunswick. So consider River Trilogy Travels Down Three of the World's Greatest Rivers or New Brunswick Phrase Book Old Sayings, Expressions & Odd Names of New Brunswick Dan Soucoup or Know New Brunswick The Essential History

I hope this helps.
