I’m new to Library Thing, so I hope that I’m doing this right :)
I’ve really been slacking off on my reading this year (last year I read 88 books in 5 months). Hopefully I can make it to 50 books by the end of the year.

I noticed a few Asian authors on your list. Have you read anything by Koji Suzuki? How about Koushun Takami? Those are the ones I'm most familiar with.

I have not heard of Koji Suzuki, but I am reading Battle Royal by Koushun Takami (I'm only at about book 6).

I've never read any manga. I read the non-manga version of Battle Royale, but I'm sure the storyline is the same. I really enjoyed it.

Koji Suzuki wrote the books they based the movies The Ring and Dark Water on.

Are The Ring and Dark Water at all related to the story of battle royale?

No, neither has anything to do with Battle Royale.

If you could recommend one manga, what would it be?

that would really depend on what type of book that you like and whether or not you care how long the series is. I guess I would recommend Mars, which is my favorite manga series (14 books), or Fruits Basket, which is also a great series, and the number one selling girls series in America (23 books).
