Whenever i press on the edit profile/mooch button, it will led me to

'' You can't use that feature yet

Before you can use that feature, we need you to confirm your email address. A confirmation email will be sent to you in the next 24 hours, once an administrator has reviewed your account.
If you do not receive a confirmation message, it may be that your email address has a spam filter which is rejecting the message. You might want to try using a different email address at BookMooch or checking your spam filter.
You can email tech support if you need help. ''

It has happened the second time, one in my another account and the other in the account i'm using now.
Both have different emails of mine. As no one replied me my message for the reasons, i have written it here to ask what have happened.

I'm not an admin so I don't know what's going on, but multiple accounts are usually frowned upon so if you have two accounts it could be slowing up the confirmation process.

Hi,

Please allow a day or so for us to reply to tech reports. Your account is okay, and should be working now, and we'll send a note shortly.

Hi,
sorry if I reply to a message so old, but I have the same problem. I can not even change the email because I get always the same message.
In any case, if you have problem to send this confirmation email you should not promise a response within 24 hours, nor allow the account to receive the mooch if then the points can not be used.
I await a response.

I just had a negative experience on bookmooch which really burns me. I requested a book on or about April 14, it was accepted and sent the same day (??) already suspect, most of us don't just run to post office same day, usually the next day or two.
One month later, I sent an e-mail asking if she had confirmation number or something I could track. No response. The another month later I sent a reminder. Again, no response. Went to her website and she had several books mooched and "sent" in March and April that were still pending.

I commented to bookmooch admin, and I received a reprimand that she is an excellent bookmooch member in good standing and I should just wait until the book arrived, no doubt the post office's fault

today, she force-received my book, claiming that I was remiss in marking the book as "arrived"... I cannot post or change anything on the forced receive... so I am just angry.

I looked at her books sent, and it seems that she force-received all outstanding books in her pending file.

She has plenty of points, so I don't think getting points for nothing was not her goal... Still I am very frustrated because I have always been very conscientious about marking all books as received, the same day i receive them.

Thanks for having this thread so I can vent.

Isn't a forced receive done automatically, six weeks after sending a reminder, otherwise someone marks it "lost in the mail"? Confusing.

I no longer recommend BookMooch to other people because of negative experiences such as what you experienced. I still use it myself, but I use PaperBackSwap more.

Force receive is not automatic, you have to do it. And I would again contact admin with the added information that the sender forced received so many books.

I didn't mark the book as "lost" because it was my understanding that when you e-mail the person sending, or send reminders, that pushes back the date you can actually do one of these actions... I was surprised by the 'forced-received" and perhaps reacted badly. Admin returned my point and the sender actually "refunded" my point... I returned her smooch back to her, and explained my actions... so as far as I am concerned, the matter is closed. I guess the road to perdition is paved with good intent. I thought i was doing everything by the book, and possibly reacted hastily.

but you are right Irene... these kinds of misunderstandings are also a reason that I have spent the last year "spending down" the more than 500 excess points - mostly due to so much angeling.. (Do Angel mooches sent out make my "ratio" inacurate???)

I haven't set up a list of books to mooch for the past year, mainly because I have been dealing with a right hip replacement and left side severe sciatica that required spinal surgery, making it very difficult to get to the post office. I even order everything from grocery delivery to dog food via the internet, making it unnecessary to drive or carry bags..

Although I check in frequently, just in case there is something I want, I am now down to 75 or so points, and am planning to post more books soon, but not so many that I have excessive points. (for fear that I might have problems in the future and find myself "locked out" like some who have posted here.)

I recently signed up for paperback swap and so far (five of my books requested, and three books ordered and received) I am pleased with the impersonal and efficient manner in which the system operates.

Regarding the force receive/lost clock reset, I'm fairly certain that reminding resets the clock on your end for when you can mark something lost or force received (it's been so long since I've needed to do either I am no longer fully certain, but I know I've had to negotiate waiting on my end in the past.) But this it the first time I've heard it get used like that the other way. In that case it would be best never to remind through the system.

I think you have to send a reminder through the system to initiate a forced receive, and then wait another six weeks, but if you send a second reminder then it restarts the clock.

The post office does a good job, in general, but it helps if the sender wraps and addresses the book correctly.

Somewhere I read that they like addresses in ALL CAPS and no punctuation, printed in a sans serif font.

>11 IreneF: ah, yes, I think you're right about having to send the initial reminder. It has definitely been too long since I've been really active on BM. (I did get a book the other day from a newbie, though, so that was nice.)

What is going on with adding books to the wishlist. I used to be able to import a list from Library Thing. Now I can't. The "add books in bulk" feature is only for adding to inventory. The only way I can find to add to the wishlist is one at a time, and it's on the drop down menu on wishlist. It chugs to get to my wishlist and each time I want to add a second book I have to go through the whole process of opening up my slow wishlist. It's making bookmooch nearly unusable for me. Thanks for responding!

The best way to add books to your wishlist is from the book details page, an Amazon search within Bookmooch or using the Moochbar widget from your browser while in Amazon.
