I am a school librarian and I've recently volunteered (yeah, I know . . . ) to help my church library get established. They have created a beautiful space and we do have quite a few books. However, I met with the board tonight and they want official policies and procedures that are in writing. I don't even know where to begin. Anyone have anything that I can see to get an idea of what kinds of things to include.

Thanks.

Church and Synagogue Library Association has a guide available on this topic.

Just looking through the Table of Contents, which are included with the description, will give you some ideas on topics; the guide offers more specific suggestions.

I highly recommend the following website http://www.acu.edu/academics/library/cfm/churchlibrary.html
Also - there is a group of church librarians that meet on a regular basis in the Salem Oregon area. Is that close to you? They discuss all types of church library topics and have a number of experienced church librarians to draw information from. You can get more information from the pnacl.org website.

Hope that helps!
