Okay. I'm ready. I just needed a "formal" challenge that will persuade me to read the books I would NEVER choose here on LT, or at the library or Amazon websites.

It will take me a bit of time to prepare a short list of what I wouldn't read. I'll be back, though.

If you would like to visit my LT Profile or my 75/2009 Challenge, please do so. YOU may come up with an idea that would be even better than MY best, current, avoid completely, snobbish, won't- catch-me-readin'-that-one books list. I do consider my time spent reading as very valuable ... not just a way to pass the time. Maybe I need something with no socially redeeming values or poetry whatsoever. What do you think?

Bring it on. Live and Learn, or not.

Maybe the first one should be a dictionary so that I could look up how to spell preferences correctly?

Ruthie;
I am engaged in two challenges, but as soon as I finish one of those would you like to work one out with me? I would love to do something with you.
Perhaps between now and then (if you are willing), you could be a little more specific regarding the genres that you tend to read and those that you hate to read or will not read.
My first two I think I will hate. I do not do vampires nor science fiction and that is what I am having to read. I hope they are hating the choices I made for them as much as I am hating the choices they made for me. hee hee hee!~!~!

Ruthie;
Well, I found that I didn't hate Carmilla at all. It was quite understated, subtle and a little erotic. I rather liked it. That was my challenge with Luxx.
My current bedtime read is The Player of the Games (my challenge with inkspot) and while it is over my head (sci-fi) and I am having to work at it, I am enjoying it as well. It is a very interesting book.
When I finish this one, would you like to do a challenge with me?
love & later,
belva

Hey, girl.

Thanks for the book ...it arrived today, Friday ... though I see by the clock it is now Saturday. I haven't even had time to open the package yet.

I would like to be challenged by you. I'm not sure how soon I will be able to take it on, 'cause I'm trying to catch up on several reads and reviews. Whew!

At least that might give us both time to come up with a terrific challenge for each other.

Thank you for sharing who you are with me here in this great community. You are sweet and kind.

Love, Ruthie

Dear Ruthie;
Thank you. I, too am in the midst of some reads, so no rush. I am still only about half-way through the book that inkspot challenged me to read. (shh, I am enjoying it and I hate sci-fi so don't tell) I am 163 pages into War and Peace which runs about 1100, but I will read that one while reading other reads as it is for a group read.
I am just excited that we will be challenging one another soon.
I am happy that the book arrived that quickly. That was fast for media mail. I hope, when you get to it, that you enjoy it.
love,
belva

Thank you. I like the Fantasy notes/envelope on the "non-tree paper" very much. Classy.

I flipped through the book today for the first time. It looks interesting and filled with raw emotion.

When I visited Ghost ranch in New Mexico, where Georgia O'Keefe lived and painted, (I was there for a week-long conference) it was amazingly stark in the way that only that part of NM can be. I have not seen her work(s) face to face, only prints and on-line.

I have heard from some people that her paintings are very healing and inspiring, also. Maybe they helped this poet to face some of her personal agony and isolation. Don't know ... just thinking out loud to you, friend.

Thank you, Dear Belva. The very, very best to you and yours.
