I have read so many great reviews of biographies and autobiographies since joining, but have yet been able to bring myself to pick any of them up. Perhaps I'm still dreading them based on memories of having them force fed to me to write book reports on when I was in school. I could just never get into them and I'm afraid to pick the wrong one up and have it only cement my dislike. Any ideas?

Maybe we could challenge each other, Jasmyn. I immediately thought of an autobiography by Margaret Mead, the anthropologist. Blackberry Winter: My Earlier Years

I read this many years ago and really enjoyed it, although it has been such a long time since I read it, I still remember thinking about what an amazing book it is, while I was reading it.
I looked at your profile and your blog as well, to see if anything leapt out at me that I wouldn't likely read. Well, yes. Let's see. Harlequin Romances are books that I would walk right by in a book store or library. Add both Historical and Regency and I'm pretty sure that I've never read one. I could be wrong on this point, but, in general I think it's pretty safe to say. (I have read books such as The Crimson and the White).
Think about it. Fantasy is another area I have not sought out.
I'm game to try one of yours.
I have many other biographies in my quiver, so to speak. So let me know.
I love the picture of the cat/kitten on your profile.

Hmm...I'm fairly new to the Harlequins myself. I ssomehow got a year's worth of them a while back and never got around to reading them until now. Let me dig around through what I have and see what I come up with!

Feel free to take your time and see if other players come up with something you might like to dislike EVEN more that a biography.
You are the reader in charge here, on your thread, after all is said and done. It MUST be fun and a challenge, also.

Jasmyn,
What are you interested in generally? It might be helpful to start with a biography that covers a topic that you are interested into (for example I can recommend a tone of good Tudor biographies but if you are not interested in the period, this won't work for you :) )

I am a HUGE fantasy reader. I love archeology and all things ancient Egyptian. After reading several books (Mistress of the Art of Death etc) and watching a few TV shows (The Tudors), I've developed an interest in old England. I haven't pursued it into the Non-Fiction world yet so I'm not sure how much I would get into it. I'm quite willing to give anything a try a least once, and probably even twice just to be sure before making a permanent judgment call.
