Hello!
I'm looking for a book for my term assignment in English. The theme has to be something I can connect to To Kill a Mockingbird or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
Unfortunately it's limited to only Canadian authors - does anyone know of any appealing books for teens that would fit those parameters?
Thanks!

You might start with CLA Young Adult Book of the Year Winners -
http://www.librarything.com/bookaward/CLA+Young+Adult+Book+of+the+Year
These are books of the year that have to be for young adults and must be written by Canadian authors (citizens or landed immigrants).
At the very least, it's a list of eligible authors. :)

The CLA site is a great idea; here are some others featuring Canadian YA titles:

If you're interested in a novel written in verse, I can recommend one of our books: The Apprentice's Masterpiece by Melanie Little, who is Canadian. It's about two teenage boys, one Muslim and one a recent convert to Christianity (from Judaism), living in Spain during the 15th century. Like To Kill a Mockingbird, it deals with intolerance and violence--in this case, the Spanish Inquisition. It doesn't relate to The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time though.
Good luck!

Isn't Farley Mowat Canadian? You could use Never Cry Wolf since all three books have dead canines somewhere in the story. I read that book in one night laughing out loud one minute and sobbing the next.
