the New Seven Wonders of the World

There's a world-wide vote going on, to choose the new Seven Wonders of the World, since only one of the original seven is still standing (the Pyramids of Giza). There are twenty-one finalists to choose from, and my picks are:

Chichen Itza and Petra really are both amazing to see. Can't speak to the others that you've posted thus far, and haven't checked the website yet.

Though I don't recall that Chichen Itza itself was specifically mentioned in 1491, other sites similar to it were. While I haven't read of anything about Petra, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

I, along with 23 others in LT, have a wonderful book published by Barnes & Noble.

"Petra: Jordan's Extraordinary Ancient City" by Fabio Bourbon. It has stunning photos along with maps and great text. If you are an Indiana Jones fan, you have already seen a bit of it.

I have to put a vote in for the Serpent Mound in Locust Grove Ohio. I have journeyed there in pilgrimage since 2001.
