Bad news: I'm wheezy.

Good news: I could probably hold a string symphony all by myself. :oP

Real good news: My dad came by today with souvenirs from his recent trip to Puerto Rico. He brought home a CD of my cousin's music and a T-shirt from another cousin's art studio. Also a really nice bag that will work well for juggling gear.

Good news:
Aloft, Tumble, and Tipi successfully got their shots yesterday.
Bad news:
I'm feeling immense guilt toward Aloft feeling very poorly from her shot. She's basically remained in the same spot on my bed for most of one full day.

GN: Yeah for new threads all around HE!

GN: Tomorrow off!
GN: I got to go to my Cadet Teaching class for the first time on Friday. Cadet Teaching is basically a class where a high school student (me in this case) goes to an elementary school classroom and assists the teacher and learns how to be a teacher. I love the class. It's great =)

BN: My room is a ginormous mess... meaning on my day off I get to clean. Can't wait.

BTW, Missy, I still need to do a bustle for my dress. I have this Saturday off so I could probably come up and visit =)

Mindy, YES, YES! Can Megan come too? I need her to take some pictures of fudge for me.

Continued from last thread: Compski, I would love to have to come again! Since the timing for movie 7a is bad for you, perhaps we should find another excuse that is during the summer. :) Meanwhile, I'll try to get pictures. It's hard to take good pictures of rooms though. Perhaps I can get Megan to do that in addition to the fudge pictures.

GN: I got to experiment with some new fudges today. It was lots of fun! I made cookies & creme (white chocolate fudge with oreos crushed in), rocky road, and pumpkin (yes, pumpkin fudge -- it's better than you might think). Tomorrow will be different ones. I'm trying out lots of flavors and choosing the best 6 or so for the fundraiser to be selling. Of these three, so far cookies & creme is the favorite.

GN: B&N book order! Yeah! Can't wait until Thursday or Friday. Hopefully Thursday, but in reality it will be Saturday.

GN: I was saving money for a new bookshelf, but came up with a free way to get one instead.
GN: I then figured out that if I traded in my PS2 which I never play anymore and all my games, I could use the money I'd saved up and the store credit I'd get to buy a used Wii and Beatles Rockband
BN: I could only afford the guitar, so no singing or drums yet.
GN: It's awesome!

Thanks for the well wishes PollyAnna and kirby. I think I'm allergic to leaf blowers. I'm definitely allergic to the results of leaf blowers. Less wheezy today. I loved that little penguin!

Good news: Breathing a little easier today. I figure I should try to take it easy. We shall see...

Oh Pollyanna I am sorry to hear about your Uncle I will be thinking of him.

Bib isn't Beatles Rock Band fun. (We traded in a bunch of stuff to get it too and only have the guitar as well)

#13: It's a blast! Congratulations to Rom! I live about an hour from Baltimore. I'm just saying! ;)

BN: They turned on the heater in my building, so I woke to the smell of burning dirt and hair, not so appetizing.
BN: I dozed for a bit and re-awoke in a panic to the phone ringing.
GN: I wasn't late.
GN: It was my nephew calling to say "hi". He asked me "How are you?" and told me he loved me and wished me happy birthday (because that's what he does).

BN: I'm so far behind in posts, I'll never be able to catch up!
GN: I managed to get on today, at least 8)
BN: Theo and I were up until 3am last night so I accidentally over slept. There was no time to get dressed and go to a preschool class at the park.
GN: Cole thinks he a superior being (he gets it from his father's side X ) who shouldn't have to interact with the dirty masses and didn't really want to go.

18 Bib I'll tell you when I get my tickets booked and when and where his show is if you are interested in a mini meet up. I have a feeling my trip will be pretty quick.

GN I bought three books today.

BN my co teacher is having some weird belly problems and has been off for the last two days. I had to go in a 6 am today

Bad news: my vanity needs someone who knows what they're doing to reassemble it; I think the holes where the screws go are stripped, and it's an antique so I don't wanna just mickey mouse something.

Good news: my new room is starting to come together and feel a little like "me." :)

laia, you need a vanity more than anyone I know. (And the results are hottie, hot, hot, so keep on being your bad self.)

I *do* need my vanity pretty badly... Thankfully, it's only the mirrors on the back that are in need of some attention; the desk part is intact. I've got a lighted mirror I use for makeup anyway, but it'd be nice to have the rest together.

Bad news: I think my car's brake lines are so bad that they're going to have to be replaced.

Good news: I wasn't actually driving the car when I discovered this in the first place.

Good news: I've got a guy that's going to work on it starting tomorrow.

Bad news: That means Foggi and I are sharing her car right now which meant I had to take a bus to work today. Walked 30 minutes in a light sprinkling of rain (wet, but not bad enough for an umbrella) before getting to the bus stop.

Good news: I was ten minutes late for the bus, but the bus was running ten minutes late, so everything worked out fine.

I hope it's not much to replace! I semi feel your pain. It's definitely really nice to have late buses sometimes.

Good news: We had a small earthquake last night. It's good news since it probably didn't hurt anyone from being small (3.7) and because every little earthquake helps make the big overdue one easier on us.
Bad news: My 20-year-old sister, her boyfriend, and his dad all have the flu.
Good news: Everyone's staying clear of each other while the sick are being medicated and resting. We're keeping my youngest sister mostly at her father's. (Those are my two sisters I live with and they share a bedroom so we want them apart right now.)

GN: Houseplants have moved back to their winter home inside the house (instead of being on the front porch). This means that they will get less light, but will probably get more water -- when they are outside, they need more frequent waterings, but are also easier to forget.

BN: Furnace is not working.
GN: Repairman comes tomorrow, if we can find a time when someone can be here at the house to meet him. In the meantime: down blankets!

Extra cold, icky, and wet. :( I'm sorry, foggi! Keep warm!

BN: I had to put on shoes with toes this morning! (I wear sandals for as long as possible and bring them back out as early as possible.)
GN: I can pull out my scarfs and sweaters.

GN: I have off work tomorrow. Long weekend woohoo!

BN: It's a furlough day so I'm not getting paid :(

GN: I get to come back to work on Monday!

#38: Because of the making a big one less strong, as she explains. And small earthquakes really aren't that scary. In fact, K didn't even realize it was an earthquake at first. You get used to them.

GN: I totally got an A+ in Calculus for the first 9 weeks (it was a 97%, which is an A+ for some reason)

Bib has it right exactly. At the beginning of this one I thought it was thunder from our storm. In a mild one like this I could have just kept reading during it if I'd wanted to, not that I recommend that. I just pause everything, stay still, and wait them out. I'm more scared of the natural things that occur in other places, like hurricanes, tornadoes and wild fires, than earthquakes because I've never experienced them.

Good news: I just got a really good award at work! It's rare and incredibly hard to get so I'm very happy.
More good news: Midterms are over.
Yet more good news: Everyone's well again, and by that I mean me, too. I got a cold from my sister who had the flu, making my mom think I'd get it, too. She both sounded and looked disappointed that she wouldn't get to take my saliva or non-existent phlegm to work to work on it there. It was cute as nasty as that all sounds. Heehee. I love her.

Can I send her some K? I don't want to go to my doctor.

I'll have to ask her. I'm not sure how the sample would do with the distance, though. ;)

GN: We have officially moved offices
BN: I have the worst office in the building

News: It's not on purpose. Just that my boss wants the bookkeeper next to him because he always wants easy access to his money, then the only nonfamily male employee needs to have the office with a direct line of site to the front door. The other corner office (my boss has the first one) is being shared by 2 people. Out of the two offices left, one is too far away and my boss doesn't want me to be that far away from everyone, so I get the crappiest office. Oh well. That's life. At least I have a window now.

GN: Made out at the booksale yesterday, found a lot of good/funny chocies.
BN: This week is going to be extremely stressful with all that is going on...

GN: Just bought hubby a PS3!
BN: That was a lot of money for a system!

Bad news: I took my vacuum cleaner to be repaired 2 weeks ago, and it still isnt' repaired. This place will not get my business again. I have 2 cats, so you can imagine what the carpet, curtains, upholstery look like having not been vaccuumed in over 3 weeks.

Good news: The Catholic church across the street just repaired, or got a new clock tower. So we get to hear the hours chimed, and twice a day, lovely music is played. It makes me smile every time I hear it. :)

GN: I got out of B&N with 3 books and a CD. One book is for a present, one for my classroom, one for me, and the CD is for me too.
BN: It cost $45 even with my 25% discount.
GN: It was teacher appreciation day, so I got a lot of neat posters and book guides for the classroom.
BN: It was teacher appreciation day and I didn't know. I missed the reception. :(

GN: I'm almost ready for P/T conferences. I have a few more grades to get into the gradebook, then to fill out behavior reports.
BN: Ahhhh! Parents! How is it that I can speak in front of 625 kids but get nervous in front of 1 or 2 adults?

BN: My 3 day shipment from B&N is not here yet. Three days was Thursday.
GN: It should be here tomorrow.
GN: It was free shipping, so I really don't have anything to complain about.

GN: I finished my book! That means that, in the past two days, I have read two books that I've been meaning to read for several months now.

BN: Now I am feeling restless. I have plenty of stuff I could be doing (cleaning, organizing, sewing projects, yard work, or reading another of the many books I've been meaning to read for a while now), but I can't seem to settle on anything.

GN: I went to the booksale. I got a book called Allergic to My Family. The only reason I bought it was because of the description. Essentially, a 9-year-old girl is upset because her family is expanding from 5 kids to 6 and she explodes saying, "No one has this many kids anymore!"
Just in case you don't know, there are 6 kids in my family =P

Bad News: I think LT is experiencing a time anomaly. I'm having trouble refreshing. Of course, it could be my computer...

GN: I love UPS tracking. My books from B&N are "Out for Delivery". Yeah!

Good News: I'm taking Cat to an evening with John Astin on Saturday. He's going to read poetry from Edgar Allen Poe and Robert Frost and talk about his life. I last saw John Astin about ten years ago in a one man show about Poe.

GN: UPS says my package was delivered at 2:27 my time. I have to wait on a little girl to arrive so I can take her home, then I can rummage through my new books!
GN: Walked into the lounge to check my mailbox a little while ago and found 2 new books. They were books I requested from the book fair. Got to love parents & kids!

GN: Part of the stress is over... Tom had an interview today and all went well! They offered him the job at a higher pay rate then he is getting now and it is first shift with loads of overtime!
BN: Thursday is going to be super stress filled.

BN: Cole is sick. Fever and sore throat. Send good thoughts for him and for it not to spread to the other two 8)

GN> my computer is up and running again! Yay!

GN: I studied all I needed to study over the weekend (surprisingly I didn't procrastinate), so that means more free time during the week where all I have to do is to read and review a little bit.

*The next part will be a little bit long and you can skip it if you want to...you have been warned :P*
GN: I taught a class last year at my old school (I was substituting for a friend) and I taught this kid who was at the time in sixth grade, turns out that he is a neighbor and his father wanted him to receive classes with me, I got the impression that he didn't like me (I mean nothing personal but he was almost a teenager and it's the typical attitude teenagers have towards adults) so I taught him today for the first time and I expected him to be bored and with an attitude like he didn't want to be there...turns out he enjoyed the class and at the end of it he even told me he thought the class was actually fun! I felt like the best teacher (even if I am not :P)

GN: I didn't have classes at seven so I could sleep in for two more hours...

GN: No bad news!

Weird News: I learned today that one of my classmates has published a book. It's called "Fierce Urgency" but there are no touchstones for it yet because it literally just came out. He's our valedictorian, but it's just weird to personally know an author... that's my age.... lol.

Bella, so glad to hear about Tom's new job. Are the two of you finally going to be on the same schedule?

Hoping everyone sick gets well, everyone not sick stays healthy, cars get fixed, weather is as good as it can be, and earthquakes remain minor (not sure if anyone explained that the small ones relieve the pressure on the tectonic plates, so it's actually less likely that a big one will occur if you have little ones every so often, or such is my understanding on how it works). Anyway, I never experienced an earthquake that made me nearly as depressed as a major snowfall does . . .

GN: A friend invited me to her second home in Tuscon this winter. So I'm spoiled for choice--go to Charleston or Tucson? As long as I escape, I'll be happy.
BN, or just reality: Not going anywhere unless I start raking in some money.

GN the play I was dramaturg for recently swept the awards in was nominated for at the awards ceremony last night. It was really nice because it was a good show and the cast mentioned me in an acceptance speech which was also nice.

BN I am tired from eating pancakes at IHOP at 2:00 am with the cast.

GN I am off to rehearsal with another great cast.

Oh dear yes it seems like there is a lot of sickness on this thread. Get better especially little Cole.

Really GN: Hubby has agreed to go to Ireland for our anniversary next summer!!! So long as I can find a good deal on plane tickets

VGN: Cole woke up feeling much better! He had a headache all day yesterday but it seems *knock on wood* like whatever it was has passed. When he is sick I always feel vaguely guilty for enjoying his quiet time. I don't WANT him to be sick or anything. LOL BUT Cole is so energetic that the only time I really have any true down time with him is when he is ill. 8)

Marensr...Thanks! My uncle has cancer, he had a meeting with hospice today and as a result he will no longer be recieving anymore chemo or radiation treatments. All we can do is make him more comfortable and spend time with him before he passes. Which I guess falls under BN.

Bad news: At 7:30am Monday, one of my sisters and I ran out the door to get my mom to the ER. We never learned much but that something was slightly up with her gallbladder. (My mom and I were there for five-in-a-half hours.) We can only think of it being caused from her weight loss. The doctors weren't sure what caused it.
Good news: She's feeling an incredible amount better, isn't in any pain now, and got a couple of days off work. That had been pretty scary!

Good/Bad news: It's my sister's 24th birthday, but rather than have a good day she's hurting because her adopted baby squirrel died today.

Bad news: Something's wrong with Aloft's back right leg. We think something (my mom's books?) fell on her when the cats were in one of their house races. She struggles to walk and keeps the leg close to her body.
Good news: Though obviously not tonight, she's going to the vet asap. She's been carried to food etc so that she doesn't have to get there herself. My poor baby.

GN: I just signed up to do a bridal showcase at a local theater that is putting one on. There are a bunch of vendors but so far as I know, I'm the only seamstress. My sister, Megan, and I reserved a booth together -- she's advertising her photography, I'm doing the seamstress thing and seeing if I can book some Pampered Chef bridal showers. I'll probably put out fudge samples too. Why not? Anyway, I'm excited about it. Should be fun!

GN: All my packaging equipment arrived so I am now making rolls like crazy. It's great!! :D

Now I want to watch Charlotte's Web. :-)

I want to read it. I was thinking about starting it as our read aloud on Monday.

Not trying to crosspost with GD, but it's been a bad day. Mom needs surgery soon. She has to wait on a mistake in dad's insurance to be fixed before she can even look at the doctors available. Then I've had some confrontational conferences. One parent came to me 2 times after her conference (she's a teacher). I'm on the verge of tears and I'm not a crier.

Horrible News: I haven't been on in 3 weeks I think. Geez, it's terrible I've missed so much!!! On the other hand...

GN: My trip to France and Spain went wonderfully!! I had lots of fun and the weather was so nice.

BN: I came back and I had to catch up on a whole bunch of stuff at school, but oh well.

BN: There's a flu going around at school. Everyone, even the teachers, have it, and that's including me, :o(

GN: I'm glad I got it before Halloween though! My friend and I are going shopping for costumes tomorrow.

GN: I just finished my 75th book of the year, completing the 2009 challenge I set myself. Now off to start my 76th book!

Skinned the side of my big toe pretty bad. I'm not really sure if there is a pebble still in there or not. It was bleeding pretty bad. Great news on the full time.

And......I don't want this to sound insensitive as it must be devastating for the parents and very difficult for the child, being blind. But I would imagine it will be interesting and rewarding to watch and care for a child with those specific needs, to see instinct kick in even when nature has presented challenges, and to come up with your own ways and systems for caring and teaching a blind child.

I hope you are right, luna, I'm already wondering if I can teach this baby sign, until she can talk that is. She really is no different then other babies except that she will not see but babies this age rarely pay attention to where they are going anyway, I hope that she has already adapted to her condition, knowing nothing else. Blind people have accomplished much the same as thier sighted compatriots

I'm worried about having a form of it but don't have insurance to have it checked out or tested. Skin cancer is genetic from freckles and moles on my father's side of the family - they all have gotten one form or another of it. My face always has so much SPF on it that I'm a little freaked out why a freckle that never existed showed up from no where within a couple weeks and then got larger and darker last weekend. I got more sun than usual, but I wasn't burned and never go outside without being covered. All of my freckles on my face are kept so pale and small from keeping my face protected. Thankfully at least its still smaller than the size of the eraser end of a pencil. That is when I want insurance before it reaches the point of. At that time, I really have others to be checked that have changed, just less dramatically.

Update on other news: The boy who died on Monday was a very popular football player. Apparently his girlfriend broke up with him the day before. He came to school to talk to her, which she didn't want to talk to him then. So he left, and shot himself. She got a text from him telling her what he was going to do and went straight to the office. They immediately called the police, who found him. Please remember the boy's family and friends. Also remember the girl. She is having a really rough time with this. Apparently some football players have been sending her some nasty text messages. When her mother found out she took the cell phone away from her.
This is the 2nd death we've had of a high school student in the last month. A few weeks ago one of our kids was killed in a 4 wheeler accident. Twenty of the kids in the Agri dept. were on the search and rescue team for that accident. One of his good friend found him.

On the Good News side: All of our schools in the district passed with great compliments from the state audit.

BN: I walked all the way across campus to find out that my 8:30 class was canceled this morning.
GB: I'm spending the time until my next class in my favorite spot on campus.

142 yep I own a Curves, I was a member first, and have lost over 50 lbs. My cholesteral is down, blood pressure, down.

GN Finished the exam in about 45 minutes, I believe I passed, but won't know for a few weeks.

Well, the applesauce turned out nicely. Had to hand cut 1/2 of the apples because their cores were crooked and wouldn't go through the peeler/slicer correctly. My classroom smells great!

BN: This means that I don't know how much I'll be on for the next week or so -- if I do any typing, it will be one-handed. It's also not particularly good news for my NaNoWriMo novel, though I'm hoping that, after a few days, I'll be able to catch up.
GN: I won't have to do the dishes for a couple of weeks! Woohoo!

When I took them back the manager said "We don't normally take back things from the kiosk or online, but this time I will". I know this isn't true, because it's happened one other time with them. Then he continued his snottiness towards me and said "Just to let you know, our machine has been working fine all day." Which I know to be another untruth, because a friend of mine had told me at church that she had picked up some prints earlier that did the same thing. Their machine was broken last week, and I had printed off pictures when it was fixed. Those turned out fine. I will not be printing any more at Walgreens. Pooey on non-nice managers.

Good news: I memorized everything for today's geography test so well! I'm ecstatic over it. I think the test went wonderful, save for one question that just kills me because I couldn't remember the name of trees which keep their leaves during times of climatic stress. (The ones that don't are deciduous.) This is the first science class I've ever liked, and I love it. I'm registering for it's lab class for the spring semester.

Oh dear! Poor Missie! She must finish the book tho. Oh my goodness I read a couple books as a child that haunted me for years. Most notably the original Peter Pan and the real Grimm's Fairy Tales. So its not just "older" books that can hurt.

foggi: I'm glad your wrist is not in too much pain. Isn't it annoying when things itch, but you can't itch them because you don't want it to hurt.

K: I'm a self-taught, moderate scrapbooker. I have all the materials and do scrapbooks when I have the time. I usually dedicate a night to an entire scrapbook when I'm doing one. I'm still a little OCD when it comes to a few things. Everything has to be in the right spot before I can start. Usually I end up reorganizing my scrapbooking cart before I can do anything. Then I'm too tired to start on a scrapbook.
Yay for doing well on tests. Isn't it a relief when you know you've done well?

GN/BN? Today is field trip day. Which can be good (we're going to go see Sttrega Nona) because field trips are fun. It can also be bad because I'm in charge of this one! Ahhhhh!!! We have 660 people going on this trip (students, staff, and a few parents).

GN: Someone who was on the trip with LadyN just posted a bunch of pictures on Facebook! Looks like a blast!

BIG GN I got a new job. I haven't posted much about it on here but I have been deeply unhappy at my work for some time and this will be a great place to be. There is a paycut but Rom will be able to be on the insurance which will be a relief. I am so excited. I gave notice today and surprisingly it went really well. It will make such a difference to me to not be around yelling and to not come home and cry regularly and I will actually be getting to work with great people and do things I like.

Oh Maren, I'm so sorry. I know how it is to have a job that makes you cry like that. Before we had kids, when I was pregnant with Cat, I had a job that had me crying every Sunday night because I knew I had to go back to work in the morning. I had to stay in it for the health insurance, which was cut as soon as I left to have my baby.

Congratulations on your new, promising job!

Cole showed me this awesome magic trick: he held a bottle cap in one hand, put his hands behind him, ran into the kitchen and came back and the bottle cap had totally dissappeared from his hands. I must have seemed appropriately amazed because he was quite proud of himself!

Cute news: Me,too thought he was going to go to Hawaii with my grandparents. He got in their van through the open trunk while they were putting their luggage in it. I had to climb through their van and hunt for him to get him out before they left.

GN we went to New York today for our annual fabric shopping trip. We got there at 10 am and were heading home before 2 pm. We found most of what we were looking for, except fabric that has pie designs on them.

GN: My Christmas cactus has buds on it! This is the first time it's bloomed since I got it a few years ago.

Good news: I get to register for the spring term in two days.
Bad news: I can't go full-time because I can't afford it with the increased tuition fee.

More good news: I get my math and geography tests back on Tuesday. I still have all those many Koppen system letter meanings stuck in my head from geography so I better have rocked the test. ;)

I woke up with a sinus headache this morning. Missed church, lunch, and can't even think about going to bell choir practice this afternoon. Also missing the last day of the Friends of the Library book sale (everything in a bag for $8.00!). I slept until 2:30, meds are not working well, tried to eat but ...ick. Laying down seems to make it worse, no way I can read (and I intended to finish An Echo in the Bone, or sew (also on my list of things to do today) It all started with allergy symptoms on Wednesday, resulting in laryngitis on Thursday and Friday. Felt fine yesterday except for some coughing, and now I feel as though my head is going to explode. This is the 2nd go-round w/ this since September. Probably time to change allergy meds again. Sigh, usually this happens in the spring, but since we moved there are probably new things to be allergic to here.

Tomorrow will go in for another mammogram (had one last month, and they want to do it again...nothing to worry about they said.) Keeping fingers crossed on that.

GN: I have a jar of spare change in my room and I just throw all my spare change in it. Today I was curious to how much I had in there, so I separated all the coins and only counted the quarters. With the quarters alone, I had $109.50 ((I was really bored today... that's why I had the time to count them all out))

if you save the change for longer, like 8 years, you could have over $1000, we did that, have twice now. One time it was our spending money for London. We got the trip to London because Mutombu and I were bumped from a flight. Our hotels were paid via Hilton Honor points.

Very BN: Tom got into an accident today... We are taking him to the hospital shortly to make sure that he is alright. The car behind him hit him going about 75 miles per hour and crushed in the back of his car and shattered the back windshield...car is totaled but Tom is in one peice. Hoping everything is in the right place.

Good News: I got my driver's license today.

Bad news: My plan to get a good picture was foiled by the camera angle. Now I must drive extra carefully until it expires because I can't bear to have to take it out and look at it.

BN: My legs and feet ache so much! I had to do fitness testing and gym class, then I had a x-country ski practice which consisted of a 1 mile run and a 10 abs workout. And on top of that I had lyrical dance class. I swear I stretched for 10 mins like 3 times today.
JN: Volleyball tryouts tomorrow! Probably not gonna make it though, I'm just trying out for fun.

GN: Today I went with my grandma to my eye doctor appointment in the city. After the appointment was over, we realized that the J.P. Morgan library was nearby, so we decided to take a look and see what they had. It turns out that there was an exhibit on Jane Austen! The Morgan has the largest collection of Jane Austen's letters in the world! They also had books and paintings from her time displayed, as well as some early editions of her books, and illustrations from the books. It was lovely! We also got to look at an exhibit of William Blake's artwork. So much fun!

GN: I JUST WENT TO SEE THE MIDNIGHT PREMIERE OF NEW MOON AND IT'S AWESOMEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lefty- I have succumbed to the ranks of fb too, about a month ago. I did it so we could see pictures of the twins.

Me too, on FB--last month, mostly so I could see pictures of grandbaby Charlotte. Mostly I still don't get it... I just don't care about the errands someone runs today, or mundane stuff we all do. So I glance thru stuff a couple of times a week, if I remember to. Daughter usually calls me to tell me if there are new baby pics. Several people I know will go on and on about their farm town, or some such thing. I have enough computer time wasters (Pogo word games!), so I won't even go there, though they keep asking me to.

Also, I broke down and bought an IPhone this week. Hopefully I won't become an IPhone addict like so many of my friends...

I don't really mind all the nonsense status posts on FB, but I guess that's b/c of my historical background, I often have to wade thru a lot of mundane primary sources when I'm writing a paper. This is my news that I've been hiding for awhile:

Great news: I'm getting promoted to a temporary supervisor again! This time I'm actually going to get a bunch of training and be in charge of all the same things as our regular supervisors. I'm really excited about it. Monday's the official start! :)

Bad news: One of my friends, a supervisor, will be leaving us soon for a promotion at another location. I'm really going to miss her.

Good news: This is supposedly why I got my promotion. It's something people go through to train to become the real deal for supervisor, so I'm hoping that they have plans for me. Tomorrow I'm going to tell my boss that if she feels me suitable, I am interested in the position. I probably won't know anything more on this until January, but these windows come so rarely, so I'm hoping, crossing my fingers, and waiting.

#293 -- You can un-friend that person. FaceBook doesn't send notifications to people that have been un-friended, so they won't even know it's been done unless they try to go to your profile page. If it's just a few people making trouble, just scale back your friend list and up your privacy settings so that people can't search for you. That might be easier than deleting your whole account and creating a new one.

Good News: We went to championships in Fresno over the weekend and got 3rd in our class. Then we went to grand finals, which has all divisions and got 13th.

The reason I'm dreading Thanksgiving is because my parent's are "seperated at the moment" and my moms refusing to come to Thanksgiving. My grandparents are coming down and my mom has to tell them about the seperation, which should be not fun. And Thanksgiving means copious amounts of booze, so my parents get real not fun

Bad news: Despite my relatives coming early, my ex uncle still came. I'd thought he wouldn't since my relatives sleep over at our house, but he is as well.
More bad news: Their three dogs that they brought aren't house trained. Their owners won't take them outside for breaks or clean up after them in the house. My grandma's decided mess on the carpet is my job.

And yikes, how they scare me! One gave such a cry just now. I thought Slinky had it with her claws, or that it had one of my other cats. Two dogs in a fight. I'm so not used to the sound.

I can't rightfully express how I feel right now. Ready to sleep the day away.

VGN: Yesterday I had to tell my parents bout that and my broken charger. Turns out they surprised me and didn't get angry... said I bread things so rarely it doesnt matter that much. Plus, they're not that expensive.
GN: Parade on Saturday! Hope it's not too cold.
BN: It's almost December, and there's no snow. Now I know I rant a lot about snow, but still, this sucks. Our skiing team at school can't even start regular skiing practices yet.
BN: I got the price for my dance costumes yesterday... they're expensive, that's all i'll say.
BN: My cats knocked down a plant today and I had to clean it up. :o(

Bad news: Today was my co-worker's last day. She was my first friend at work and today has been a sad one. I bought her a cake and made her a card that we all signed and someone else bought her balloons and a giftcard. Despite the goodbye we know this is good because she will be moving on to a great new job with us, just somewhere else.

BN: Our new renter is trying to back out of her lease, after less than a week. We bent over backwards, agreeing to let her pay the deposit over time. Now we're out nearly $2000, b/c we let the previous renter out of his lease early, and we used her first month's rent to pay the lease company. Not to mention we have to pay the previous renter his desposit back. This woman is a friend of a friend, who assured us she would be a great renter, which is why my husband agreed to take payments on the deposit...(I had a bad feeling about it though) I think we should keep her money...still new to the whole landlord thing, so I don't know for sure if we can--she signed the lease though, so we should be able to keep it.

I so wish we could just sell the house.

exlib #368: I am pretty positive that if a tenant breaks the lease early for any reason you are entitled to keep the deposit to pay for lost income due to said tenant breaking the lease. I am also pretty sure that you can charge a fee for breaking the lease since that is what my apartment complex does. I also think that you are in the right to keep all security deposits since they are taking your generosity for granted.

I'm kinda waiting for Mandy to show up here, she's worked for a property management company for over four years and while the laws in Texas will be different from the PA, NJ, NY laws she deals with, she'll might have some good insight...

368: I'm assuming you've used a standard lease so take a quick glance through it and see what the "leaving early" section says. For instance in NJ we can not only keep the s/d but the tenant is responsible to the end of their lease or until someone new rents the apartment. In most cases though that means a lot of court so we usually charge a $400 break lease fee and keep the security. But basically you should be able to keep the full security. Like bib said I don't know Texas laws but the basics are usually the same all around. Basically, don't worry too much, you've got a signed lease so you are protected, just take a look at the lease to see what you can do.

#368, 375 -- I also don't know what renter's laws are like in Texas. I do know tat the last apartment I lived in had an extremely exorbitant kill fee... at least it felt that way (50 percent of the total amount or what was left, whichever was less). Definitely check the lease that she signed to see what it says because if she did sign it, she is out that money. Other than that, I'm sure your local library will have plenty of books on renter's law and the like. I think we have at least three here.

Good news: I was one point away from a perfect 'A' on my earthquake paper for Geography that was handed back today.

Bad/Good news: An error was made when my pay rate for work was being adjusted so it's not in the system yet for my next check as it should be. I just called someone to begin the process of having it fixed.

Other bad/good news: I have to retire my cell phone. My mom and kid sister have each just offered me their old phones to choose from to switch my service to so I won't have to buy a new one. I'll be using the same service provider doing this so I get to keep my number.

Even though I've been working as as supervisor for the last week-in-a-half, according to her I wasn't supposed to have a difference in pay until three days ago. It all comes down to an incorrect date she wrote down. I really don't care but wish she wouldn't put the blame on me. It's kind of silly.

I heaqr you K! Same thing happened to me a few years ago. My boss pushed a little girl on my van at the last moment and told me everything was fine and go, we were already late for a field trip. When I returned I was fired because it turns out the parents had never signed a permission trip and the mother turned up early to take the child to a doctor's appt. I always thought my boss should have stood up for me in front of the district manager, she should have said she was the one who told me to go, but when I appealed to her to say so, she just looked at me.

Thanks guys. It was a rough day yesterday. Not only did we have a meeting before and after school, but then we had to tell our students. The teacher was a Reading Recovery teacher, so she pulled students from everyone's classes. We contacted parents of students she saw, and invited them to come be with their child or pull their child out to tell them themselves. While those students were pulled out together the classroom teachers had to tell the rest of the kids. It didn't go too bad, but if you remember I teach 2nd grade. Students at this age transfer their emotions to people they know. It reminds them of sick parents, grandparents, and ask lots of questions. So lots of tears (magnified since I have an all girl class). We talked to the kids about grief and how to be a good listener to a friend who may need them. We had great support from all the schools in the district, with counselors from every school and even the local college. Our SRO (school resource officer), PTO, and Administrators from the district office were here to help out with car duty (which our Reading Recovery ladies do each day). That was a real blessing.

Such a difficult thing ot do kirby. It sounds like there's a great support network there though, which is fantastic for the children.

BN: I'm at work and it just turned busy. So have had to put it off. Again.

Fabulous News: I applied for my passport today =DDDD

GN> okay its official! My new position at the daycare as cook is confirmed! Cook means that I don't have a classroom, of course, but thru the course of the day I'll get to see all the children! I will prepare breakfast lunch and snack each day keep the kitchen clean, order food and supplies, develop menus and answer to no one but the direrctor. I will also recieve a nice raise! whoop!
Cook is a unique position in the daycare. I know I can improve the quality of the meals we've been having while still meeting nutritional guidelines and allowing for food allergies (We have two little boys who are allergic to EVERYTHING!) I will have to get up earlier but I get to leave earlier too!

It's been one of those days already.

I got up (a few minutes late) and got ready. Went outside, warmed up my car, scraped the windows, and got in. Then I saw my tire light. The dealer told me that if the light comes on it's a significant loss in pressure. Checked the book and it said the same thing. Could I find a gauge? No. I know we own 5 or 6, but couldn't find a one. I'm sure it's chalked up to weather, but it's a new car and I'm not 100% positive. So I borrow mom's car. Get 1/2 way down the road and guess what. The gas light comes on.

GN: I had my last class of the semester yesterday.
BN: Final is on Tuesday
GN: I currently have an A in the class and need to get atleast a 85% to maintain that A.
BN: I'm too stressed with life to study.

BN: I went in to get a new passport yesterday and was told that I would have to order a new birth certificate before they could give me a new one even though I had a birth certificate card and my old passport.
BN: Ordering that birth certificate set me back $80.
GN: I should have that birth certificate in a week or so and be able to apply for a new passport then.
GN: The reason I need a passport is that I may be going to see my parents in Russia at the beginning of next year.
GN: It's payday!

Congrats polly!!!! Thats so much fun! I would never be able to be the cook but I am sure you will like it. I rather enjoy being in the classroom!

GN: I might also be getting a new position at work, one that is most coveted but my boss said I was the first in line for it! I would be moving from my room, Preschool, into the Infant room. I love being in there and the other teacher who is in there is a wonderful person, as is my partner in the Preschool room. I just prefer to change babies diapers instead of 3 year olds.

GN: It is Friday! I love love love the weekend!

I remember when I got to move from the 1s to the infants I was super excited, of course that was in large part due to the "no shoes" rule in that room, which meant I got to where slippers at work. How great is that?!

BN: I wasn't able to be on at all this week because of the dance I was in. For those who don't know, I auditioned to dance in a dance company's production of "A Christmas Carol." They're from Toronto and they were asking for dancers 9 and up.
GN: I made it, and I had 4 hours of dance every day.
GN: It was A LOT of fun and the show went great!!!
GN: Then the parade today was good, and I'm going to see New Moon with my friends later on and then having a sleepover.
GN: 3 more days with braces!!!

GN: I think I did decent on my calc test (the grades aren't in online yet)

GN: I took the SAT again today. It seemed really easy... so hopefully my score improved =)

GN: Going to see Chloie tomorrow =D It's been over a month.

GN: We did a great private gig last night, and are also doing a set tonight at the launch of a new comedy night in Oxford Circus.

BN: I'm hideously hungover from last night.

Semi-GN: we just bought our son a new laptop for Christmas...if we can't resurrect mine, I'll take his. He wanted a faster one; since I am old and slow I don't mind (as much) a slow computer. It's better than none at all!

GN: I got my house clean this weekend and can now begin Christmas decorating!

BN: we had fleas (how I don't know, since the cats are indoor only--but we live next to a park full of squirrels, so....) Anyway, Saturday I fogged the house, which meant I had to crate Frankie and Gracie (who knew something was up when they saw the crates), put them in the garage for 2 hours while the house was being bug-bombed; then I gave them each a flea-killing pill (they were really good at spitting it out, so it was really slobbery gross by the time it got down them); then they got a bath (Gracie bit my hand). There is nothing more pitiful looking than a wet cat. To really make their day, I then ran the vacuum cleaner. They didn't speak to me until about 8:00 that night!

GN: cats have short memories, so now all is forgiven. And they are flea-free, and their fur is nice and shiny and soft.

BN: I will have to repeat this process in 2 weeks to kill the hatching eggs.

exlib: if you put any potted plants outside during the spring and summer, sometimes fleas get in that way. This was also a really bad year for fleas and ticks. Usually we do OK because I give the cats brewer's yeast with their food, but this year I had to resort to Frontline for one of our cats. He kept coming in with ticks.

Good news: My birthday weekend ended with a trip to the Chocolate World Expo.
Better news: I didn't eat as much chocolate as I thought I might because I was too busy singing along with a really good Beatles tribute band.

GN: Last night's gig went really well. It could have gone either way, since the stand-up on before us really didn't go down well - he was offensive, and just not funny.

Really GN: The guy headlining the gig is quite well known (well, he was in the 80s/90s), and said we were the best sketch comedy he'd seen in 10 years. Woohoo!! He was really encouraging and supportive, and was only too happy for us to use that as a quote for our publicity. We're getting a good little collection of quotes from some great names now!

Good news: It snowed! Not quite where I live, but it did in parts of the SF bay area. The taller hilltops were still white by the end of today. Everyone's been talking about it around the bay and valley, too, today.

Bad/Good news: One mysterious cat decided to be have a hairball on my bed while I was gone at work yesterday. Thankfully at least I always put down a blanket over my quilts so they were perfectly fine. I probably only have three things from my father, and a quilt is one of them, so it's special.

GN: I got my package today from my santa in the HE Gift Exchange!!! =DD

BN: I work 5 days again this week.
BN: I also have a project for calc that hasn't even been introduced, but is due by the end of the semester. (For the record, the end of the semster is December 17th. But since we have block scheduling, that means I only have 3 more classes before the final)

BN: I have so much stuff to do before Christmas. Some serious shopping is necessary.

Awful news: I just found out that my mom has to work Christmas eve, Christmas day, and for the following two days after. All of my sisters will be gone on Christmas, too. Can't think about it any more than that 'cause school's a bad place to get upset.

N: My boss is messing around with me about this switching rooms thing...
BN: I am afraid I am going to have to choose... My partner in the 3's room went out on a limb for me when I first came into his room and I kinda feel like I am being disloyal to him if I tell them I really want the other position. The original deal was if his friend who came in for an interview, gets the job than he would work with her and I would be free to go. But she can't work full-time and I think they are trying to find an alternative so I can still switch. But whats making me mad is she talks to everyne but me about it! I have no idea what to do...

My Co worker doesn't speak to me except as regards the children. We are in a center wide room decorating contest. Not having a lot of money to spend I have spent time making paper decorations and hanging them aound the room. She has replaced everything with store-bought items.

GN: I just found out I'm getting a SmartBoard in my library!
BN: I have to be retrained to use it...I was trained last year, but since I didn't have one, I retained none of the knowledge.

BN: My husband is in Singapore on business and was supposed to be coming home on Sunday but now he has to go to Zurich on Sunday :(

GN: He will still be back in time to go out to dinner on our anniversary, he just might be really tired.

BN: Weird creepiness going on with my car. I parked it Sunday night, and Monday afternoon it had been moved by someone other than me. I parked it last night I parked it and this afternoon it had been moved again.
GN: It's still in the same lot and nothing was stolen.
BN: Because there was no damage and nothing was taken there was "no crime" and the police can't do anything about it.
GN: I meeting a friend for happy hour this afternoon.

BN: apparently ALL I'm getting is the SmartBoard (earlier post). It won't be hooked up, nor will I get a laptop until I pass my tech profieciencies. Which I have been putting off for a year and a half...I know how to do most everything on the list, just haven't officially turned in the paper to the tech and principal. Knew it was too good to be true, lol.

GN: Santa's Secret Shop (a mini-store for students to Christmas shop) has been set up for the last week and a half in the library...technically it's a 4th grade fundraiser, but guess who got to do most of the work?? Today is the last day...maybe I can actually run a library now.

Polly, I want to change rooms because being in the preschool room has become way to stressful for me. I find the infant room les stressful, for the most part. Idk, I jus don't feel like preschool is the best for me.

GN: Our theatre group, KATS, Inc, had their fund raiser tonight and we raised around $5000! It was a fun evening!! We are doing "Little Red Riding Hood and the New Jersey Wolves". It's a British Pantomime. Bib is the Fairy Queen.

Good News: It was a minimum day today and I went to lunch at Subway with my friend and then we went to her house.
Great News: My friend's hamsters had babies last night!!! And I get one!
Bad News: The (fish, idk why) woman at Petco said they were both girls but she thought the white one was pregnant (from a brother earlier) cause she was bigger. So she got our hopes up but after 30 days of being with past siblings, no babies. So they didn't put them in separate cages.
Good News: Today her dad told us they had babies!
Good News/Bad News: So 40 days after last being with brothers, babies are born. The white one is actually a GUY (that explains why he's bigger) and the gray one is a girl.
Good News: The babies are so cute and the hamster mama seems to take good care of them.
Good News: We put the boy hamster in is own cage so he can't hurt the babies or make more babies. He loves it.

No major change in mileage. I've put a sign in the window for now that says: "If you are moving this car for a reason, please have the courtesy to leave a note. If this is a prank, you should know the police have been informed and are monitoring the situation." It was in the same place this morning as where I parked it last night and I'll be checking on it throughout the day as I made sure to park it where I can see it from my office.

That's just weird, but I'm glad nothing was missing.
