I just received a mail from the Society that they have found some more copies of Peter Pan in their warehouse. Altogether 78 copies.

From the mail:

By a wonderful stroke of luck during a stock-take we found 78 copies of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. We immediately thought of our members who owned the sequel, but not the original, and so we’re writing to offer you the chance to snap up one of these final copies.

I just ordered my copy and now, a few minutes after receiving the mail there are only 68 copies left.

Thanks for the tip - I've also just ordered it. I was really disappointed that I couldn't get it because I was late to the Peter Pan party so that's a good afternoon's work. Although, in true Folio style, for some reason the website wouldn't let me have access to it so I had to phone up so I didn't get the chance to look at the ticker counting down ....

Wish they'd given me the heads up... just looked and there were none left :-(

Even though there were 42 copies left after I ordered my copy, I just a letter saying no more were available. They did send me the calendar, though, which was nice. I guess I'll try to find a copy on the secondhand market.

>9 windupbird79: Thanks for the info. I just placed an order, which I hope they will be able to fullfill. On the secondary market, the cheapest copy I could find was for $160.

No problem!

The site also lists The Blue Fairy Book for $59.95, which is no longer on the Folio website. I'll have to pick that up myself.

The Blue Fairy Book is definitely available from FS - I saw it in the members' room yesterday.

I'm so jealous you've been to the members' room! Is it as cool as I imagine? (I've seen some pictures on this site, and it seems cool). Time for me to move across the ocean.

It's not showing up on the Canadian website. And all the Dante books have disappeared too, including the latest one. Surely that one didn't sell out so soon. I'm so glad I got both Purgatorio and Paradiso in May instead of just buying the one that was on sale.

Just received my Peter Pan in Kensington Garden (Folio Edition) from Barnes and Noble. It is in perfect condition and still in the original shrink wrap. Total cost: $91.00

They still have it listed as in stock if anyone is interested.

Mine came today from a Uk amazon marketplace seller - was on for the original Folio price with £2.75 p&p, snapped it up!

I didn't realise it was such a big book, I need a new bookcase to fit it on with Sir Gawain. Looks very pretty, will be wanting Peter Pan and Wendy to match of course but that one seems to be a little more expensive. Might have to order the one from Barnes and Noble and have it sent to a friend in the US. I'm already going over there in March to pick up the Red Fairy Book I had shipped to her lol

Hoping it shouldn't come under my spending allowance for the trip since it was printed in London... have to say I took it on holiday for some not-quite light reading ;)

I'm obviously a few years late to this thread, but I have just recently discovered the Folio Society. I would very much like their Peter Pan and Wendy, but it seems to be selling on the second hand market for $145+. Does anyone know what the Folio Society sold it for originally? Also, if anyone happens to have a copy, can you confirm that Peter Pan and Wendy is the text of the actual novel, not the play that came first?

Thanks!

>17 aaronpepperdine: I have a 2008 FS prospectus price of $87.95, don't know if it was less in 2006. The text is in novel form. Both Wendy and Kensington are lovely large books with large type, margins, and tipped-in illustrations.

Be aware that the play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up was published by FS, in 1992. Illustrated by Paula Rego. Not in series with the two books under discussion. I think it was reprinted fairly recently, unless my memory is playing tricks.

>17 aaronpepperdine: Opps, skimmed too quickly didn't see you were looking for Peter Pan and Wendy, not the Kensington.

> Neither from memory. I don't have my Folio 60 to hand, but this was a standard publication in 2004, and was available for a few years after that (I assume until 2009 given when this thread started). I don't think it was in an different price range to the similar children's volumes, such as the Fairy books, so £40-£50 I guess. I see it now and again on the secondary market in the same sort of price range. In fact I just checked, and there is one on Amazon Marketplace now for £50 in fine condition.

Someone else here may have a copy of the prospectus from around that time and give a UK price, but as an earlier poster said, the original US price in the 2008 prospectus was $87.95

For anyone interested in the current Peter Pan and Wendy printing, please note it is not the same size as the original 13" Folio (2006) edition with tipped-in plates of Debra McFarlane's illustrations and which formed a pair with the green Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens volume (also with tipped-in plates) which is the subject of this thread. The current re-issued PP&W volume is smaller than the original, measuring 11.5" and the illustrations though the same are not tipped in. Perhaps this constitutes a shift to a 'standard' from a 'fine' production - which would explain the difference in the current 2013 price of £34-95 compared to the price of the original edition of £39-95 in the 2008 prospectus (or around £60 today adjusted for Folio inflation as gauged from the price change of a comparable volume such as The Book of Common Prayer between 2008 and 2014). I hope this helps any Devotee specifically looking for matching volumes.

Thank you, as the owner of a 2006 printing, I had been wondering why they were offering the "back in print" edition so cheaply (relatively speaking).

I too was wondering about this, as I have the original format that I recalled was quite expensive.
Thank you yet again Cronshaw for your valuable insight.

For one moment,I thought the FS was publishing the prequel of Peter Pan & Wendy! :/
I hope they do so for Christmas!
