Nice. I think I may use your list or something like it, just to keep it simple (for once). :) Good luck!

Hey Lynda;
How are you doing?
I believe that Elizabeth von Arnim got the nod though I have, as of yet, seen nothing announced.

Lynda;
Sorry about that. I just went to that group's home page and saw this:

"Elizabeth von Arnim will be November's author."

I felt rather "duh-ish".
So yes, November's Author of the Month is Elizabeth von Arnim.

Interesting Belva. I haven't heard of her, now I feel rather "duh-ish". But I'll look her up at the library.
How can I find out who the monthly authors are without tracking you down every month? Lynda

Just put a hold on The enchanted April and Elizabeth and her German Garden. Hoping they are not huge tomes................Lynda

They're not.
And the monthly authors are listed on the home page for the group at the top of the page. (once they are decided and all)

Thanks Belva, I am now following those threads. Although it's not included in my Alpha challenge I Started Enchanted April this afternoon and would love to read straight thru but people around here want to eat and have help with homework etc. (sheesh) so I had to put it down.

I just finished Life and Fate by Vasili Grossman. This one was for a group read and was a challenging read for me. It is a WWII book based on the Eastern front and I learned a lot from it and it was good to read a WWII book not based on the Western front. I appreciated that.
I had never read Vasili Grossman previously and will look for more by him. This is a powerful book.

Hi Belva, I have had Vasili Grossman on my author wishlist for a long time. I have heard so many good things about his writing. I am a big reader of books set during times of war, I think these types of books are able to show mankind at it's worst, but also at it's very best as well.

Passing by Nella Larsen is a beautifully written slip of a book about biracial ladies "passing" as white during the age of the Harlem Renaissance. This small but powerful book comes very highly recommended. It is a quick read and one that I think will not leave me for some time.
