Louis Riel paperback - caveat emptor

I've been waiting for Louis Riel to appear in paperback, & I finally got it today. Alas, the binding is not well designed, and the glued-in signatures are already pulling away from the spine.

It's a great story so far (I'm halfway through), but take a good look at the binding before you pay for it -- maybe my copy is unusual.

Is the hardcover still in print? I didn't find it to be all that expensive (especially with Amazon's discount) and it's a handsome enough book.
