Welcome to the addiction/obsession of having Your Book Cover And No Other in your catalogue. Here are the steps:
Option 1 - Use an Amazon image.
Option 2 - has someone already uploaded your cover image?
Option 3 - add your own personal scanned image
For all options:
NB: It's safest to click Submit straight away to save your bookcover addition and not do any other edits whilst adding a cover. After clicking 'Submit' you can re-select the edit window if you feel like adding yet another tag, editing a comment, etc.

Welcome to the addiction/obsession of having Your Book Cover And No Other in your catalogue. Here are the steps:
- Go into Edit Mode for your book i.e. click the pencil icon.
- At the top left, you'll see a pre-populated Amazon image or No-image for that book. Click on the change book cover link just below.
Option 1 - Use an Amazon image.
- LibraryThing will show you all the Amazon images that it knows about, click on any of them to select it. Caution: this will change the ISBN of your book to match the cover as Amazon covers are identified by ISBN.
Option 2 - has someone already uploaded your cover image?
- Scroll down to see the User generated covers and check if any of them match yours. If so, click on that image to add to your book.
- A confirmation window will pop up asking if you wish to 'Choose This Cover'? Click Yes.
Option 3 - add your own personal scanned image
- Find your images. It's best if they are jpg files and fairly small - 20-30k is fine!. (Greyhead: I find it best to scan at 50dpi and then reduce by 50% to 25dpi in a picture editor once I've trimmed and cleaned up.) LibraryThing will scale down your file to the sizes it wants and it will not allow uploads of over 600k.
- In LibraryThing click 'change book cover'.
- Then find 'Upload Picture' and click 'Browse'. It will open a window called Choose File where you find and select the image you've saved on your local drive.
- Click 'Open' to return to the Book Cover window.
- Click on the Upload button to upload your image to LibraryThing.
For all options:
- You should be returned to the Edit book window.
- Click the 'Submit' button straight away to make sure your cover selection is saved.
NB: It's safest to click Submit straight away to save your bookcover addition and not do any other edits whilst adding a cover. After clicking 'Submit' you can re-select the edit window if you feel like adding yet another tag, editing a comment, etc.
