Wow, I can't believe how many posts are already in this group! I am definitely going to try to do this challenge, and I am hopefully that I won't have to change my categories too often this time ;)
I don't plan on starting until January 1st, but I thought I would start a thread to get category ideas thought out. This year I am planning on making them much more flexible right from the start in hopes that I will stick to them easier.
So far I am thinking:
1. YA Books - because I can never get enough!
2. Women's Studies - I read a lot of these so this would be an easily filled category as well.
3. Global Reading - I have been trying to read more by authors from other countries and am loving it. Definitely deserves its own category.
4. 1001 Books List - There are quite a few on this list that I would like to read.
5. Mt. tbr - Because it might bring down the house if I don't tackle some of it.
6. Next in the Series - A few series I've been reading have books out so I should be able to fill this out easy as well.
7. New (to me) Authors - I feel like I am taking the easy route, but hey, in the end I will change the categories to easy to fill ones like this anyway so I might as well start with it right ;)
8. As Seen In Blogs / LibraryThing - This will be for recommendations. Though there are many culprits, I am sure Bonnie and her Best of 2009 will account for most of these!
9. Non-Fiction - I won't make this any more specific because I tend to read a wide variety.
10. Biographies/Memoirs - Because I love them.

I randomly developed an interest in reading women's studies books about two years ago, having read nothing before that, so I'm very happy to see a source for more ideas.

Hi Kristenn, I only just started recently reading any as well. Probably the last year or two I would say. I've found a lot of really interesting books since then! I see a few in your library that I haven't read and have added to the wishlist :)

After much reflection I've decided that while I want to broaden my reading, I will keep track of it in another thread instead. I love the categories but I find it annoying keeping track this way.
Last year I read just over 200 books so I was tempted to join the 250 book group (as I can't find a 200 book group) but decided that I would rather stick with the 100 book group and just go over. This way I won't feel as pressured to read lighter or shorter books.
