Anyone know of any fantasy series that focus on dwarves? Like dwarven protagonist? I have read the gotrek & felix series.

Some of the Dragon Lance books by Weiss & Hickman had a dwarf or two featured fairly prominently. There's too many books & it's been too many years for me to tell you which ones though.

Some of the Discworld books feature Carrot, who is technically a dwarf. The Fifth Elephant features lots or dwarves, but also has vampires and werewolves.

The Icewind Dale novels by R. A Salvatore has a dwarf as a major supporting character.

Also, though I have not read it, The Dwarves by Marcus Heitz features a dwarf as a main character.

Edit to fix Touchstones.

3: I wouldn't say Carrot is technically a dwarf. He's a human raised by dwarves and was initially under the rather ridiculous impression that he too was a dwarf. Although he retains some of their characteristics, I wouldn't consider him a dwarf.

Either way though, a great character. I love that he's so averse to deception he doesn't even like to sneak up on people.

Like jimmaclachlan said, Dragonlance is one way to go.

* Chronicles (trilogy)
* The Lost Chronicles (trilogy)
* Flint The King
* Kindred Spirits
* Wanderlust
* Dwarf Home (trilogy)
* Dwarven Nations (trilogy)
* Stormblade
* The Gates of Thorbardin

Carrot is *culturally* a dwarf. (-:,

Also technically. After all, he was adopted. How could the son of a dwarf not be a dwarf?

Carrot was raised a dwarf. He thinks of himself as a dwarf. Other dwarves accept him as a dwarf. The only thing we have against it is some outsiders' opinion that he is too tall. Pure speciesism, that is. As if shortness defines a dwarf.

There's always Lord of the Rings with Gimli.

Hendel from the Shannara books is pretty cool. They aren't the greatest fantasy books but the series as a whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. By that, I refer to the first seven books. I have not read the newer ones.

Guy Kay's Fionavar Tapestry, a rather Tolkienish fantasy, has some dwarves, and in fact their king is one of my very favorite characters.

No one mentioned Marcus Heitz book, The Dwarves yet??!

This is a book completely focussed on dwarves and is really very good. I read the English translation over Christmas. If you wish to, you can get it in the original German (published a few years ago) as "Die Zwerge".

Editing for touchstones but it is not working. Link to work here instead.

Another contender for best supporting role for a dwarf would be Ahira in Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series. Starts with The Sleeping Dragon.

Dwarves are part of the population of Deverry in Katherine Kerr's novels, along with Elves and Dragons.

The Death Gate Cycle by Weis (sp?) and Hickman has Dwarves that feature quite a lot across some of the seven book cycle....if you are still following this post after all this time.

There's as a dwarf as a strong secondary character in Black Blade Blues.

3: Of course Carrot is a dwarf! He can do the rite of k'zakra, he knows the secrets of h'ragna and he can ha'lk his g'rakha correctly! Dwarfs consider him a dwarf.

Memoirs of a Dwarf: At the Sun King's Court by Paul Weidner. Haven't read it. It looks interesting, but I am not sure it really is fantasy

There's also Tee Morris's Billibub Baddings series. I believe it started as a podcast then went to print.
