Variations in publishing

I have a vague memory of there being some significant textual differences between the editions of Illuminatus! Can anyone shed some light on this? What don't *they* want us to know?

Hmmm what? You mean I have to go track down different editions of this lovely book?

*chuckle* Sounds like just the sort of rumor RAW would start, whether or not it was true. ;)

Message deleted? Did "they" get to you and force you to remove this knowledge? Inquiring minds want to know!

I guess we'll never know, now that RAW has moved on to the universe next door.

I went tracking down the same rumors recently and what I read, for what it's worth, was that there was an additional many (50? 500?) pages of material that the publishers insisted on excising, due to length, allegedly.

Some of the material has surfaced in other forms, such as some of the things in Schroedinger's Cat, etc.
