How can I enter 'special characters'?

There are several ways but they all have a little risk attached as - so far - LT is not always too hot with special characters and you may find that you can't search for the text you have entered or it doesn't show up quite the way you expect.
That aside you can enter any accented/special character the same way you would in your word processor. I'm on a PC here so:
+ if I type Alt+Ctrl+e I get é,
+ if I open Character Map I can copy and paste èéêë
+ I can use the Keystroke hints in Character Map to enter Alt+0231 (from the keypad) and get ç and
+ I can type in HTML entities like é or ç and get é or ç
Which works best depends on where you are in LT - for instance LT does not preserve HTML entities here so if I come back to this message I have to re-enter parts of the text rather than just edit it.
