Hello all!! I am just starting this challenge. I have read a few of them. I will post what I have read later when I am at home and have my sheets in front of me.

Right now I am reading The Picture of Dorien Gray for my 1010 challenge. I can place it in either my 1001 category or required reading since my son had to read it for school this year.

Thanks for checking out my thread and Happy New Year!!

Well I finished one of my books today. Here is a list of all the books I have read from the 1001 Books to read before you die:

1. Fear of Flying by Erica Jong (read last year)
2. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (read last year)
3. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger (read in high school years ago, plan to re-read at some point)
4. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (read last year)
5. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (just finished 1/11/10)

I only have to read 25 books per year to finish this before I die. We will see if I can actually do that.
My reviews maybe posted here if not they are in one of my other challenges: 999, 1010, 50 book challenge.

Review:

5. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Wow is all I have to say about The Picture of Dorian Gray. I didn't think I would like this book and I was pleasantly surprised with this book. This is the first book I have ever read by Oscar Wilde.

The writing in the book was wonderful. The characters words just flow like music as you read the book. I found myself not wanting to put the book down as I was reading. Dorian, Lord Henry and the Artist Harry interact so well with each other. There is a different relationship between all 3 of them and to see the relationships change through the book was enthralling.

The ending of the book was quite a surprise to me. When I read it I laughed at how well written the story was and the fact that I never realized the ending until the very last second.

I can't wait to read more books written by Oscar Wilde!!

5 Stars

Well I haven't forgotten about this challenge it is just that I haven't read any books from the 1001 book. I also learn that there is a new excel spread sheet and I can't down load it to my Mac so I have to wait for my new computer to arrive so that I can download it there and start a new one. I am currently reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. I chose the book because I had just seen a musical of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and loved it that I wanted to read the actual book. I also had to go out and purchase the book because I didn't care for the copy they had at the library. I don't know when I will finish it because I am also reading 3 other books at the same time. These are the other ones I am reading:

Julie and Julia by Julie Powell
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
and
King Lear by William Shakespeare

I really need to read more of these books considering that I need to read 25 books a year to complete the 2008 list.

Hi, Monic'a!
I just found your thread here. I am thinking about starting one, too. I can't wait to see what you think of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as I have been wanting to read that for a long time.

I haven't posted in here in over a year. I need to find my list and update it. I think I may have read a few more.
