The Percy Jackson movie is opening here 12 Feb. Who else is planning to go? I want to get tickets for the midnight release, but I don't think they are on sale yet.
2picolina
Ooo, I really wanna go!!! I'm so excited to see it, it's coming out feb 12 here too, although i'm not sure if theres a midnight release or not.

I'm excited about this movie! I'm not sure if I will get to see it right when it opens, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.
4Renald128
Amazingly we are getting it on Feb 12 too, if I am not too full with college stuff I will absolutely go and see it :D
5littlegeek
I want to see it! I also have to finish the books, as I never finished Sea of Monsters, which I had to abandon when I broke my arm last year. (Thank God for my Kindle!)
7lefty33
I doubt I'll make it for opening day, but I am definitely looking forward to it! I'll have to get husband to read it real quick so he can come with me.
8biblioholic29
I've just suggested it as a "sister weekend" activity as we'll be getting together the last weekend in Feb. One sister's all for it, still waiting to hear from the other.
9Mandy2
The other is reading two books that are 440+ pages right now and hasn't started reading those yet, but is still ok with seeing the movie.
10lefty33
It won't take you long to read just the first one. They are quite fast, I assure you. Just skip one night of sleeping and I'm sure you can squeeze it in. ;)
11kirbyowns
I may be able to squeeze it in that weekend. Our Tea Party (Valentine) is that Friday, so I might make it a treat if I can pull off the party.
12elbakerone
I'm pretty stoked about the movie too! My husband and I are reading the first one aloud right now and we'll probably go see the movie as a Valentine's Day outing! :)
13katillac
I just read the books to be able to watch the movie (cant watch a movie bout a book without reading the book first!)
14Mandy2
10: I do have over a month to read it before sister weekend, I suppose I could start it when I'm done with The Help
15grkmwk
I saw previews that looked pretty good, but I haven't read the books yet, so I'll likely wait 'til DVD unless y'all start to rave so much I can't wait :o)
16Espeon200
Well, since I'm going to Russia the 13th, I'll probably have to wait a bit to see it. Still, it's exciting that it's coming out that soon.
17Marensr
I am interested. I have enjoyed the series but always dubious about movie versions. Still they have a good cast list.

Saw the trailer on the t.v. last night for the 1st time. I've seen it about 4 times today. Looks interesting.
19lefty33
Yes, I saw trailers during the football game! Okay, so I wasn't actually watching the game, I was just in the same room as the TV. But I somehow noticed every time the trailer came on. I only saw it twice though.
20Mandy2
Saw the trailer when I went to Avatar this weekend. Got the book from the Library and will start reading this week.
22biblioholic29
21: MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Be prepared to head straight back to the library and check the rest out too!

I haven't seen the preview yet but I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. I'd been sad that I miss movie previews from not getting out much or having a working tv, but silly me, what is youtube for? Sometimes you just have to knock your own head.
24jugglingpaynes
We saw the trailer (teaser?) in the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs DVD.
25cmbohn
Has anyone found tickets for sale online yet? I want to be sure we get to go on opening day!
26pollysmith
It looks very exciting but I think I'll read the book first
27katelisim
I'm super stoked to see it, looks epic. Can't see it opening night unfortunately, but maybe for the best since tickets are double cost on holidays/weekends.
28cmbohn
I found tickets on sale now at Fandango! bought 3 online and now we're all set for the 12:01 show early early next Friday morning!!!!!

I like how everyone seems so excited about this movie. My cousin has been angry at the movie and the people who made it since she saw the first preview. Looking at pictures of the characters makes my brain a little crazy.
(but I haven't seen it yet)

It was really good! Of course there were parts that I think should have been put in, but that's usually what happens with these things.
32Espeon200
Spoiler free: it's an ok movie, but it take some serious departures from the book in an effort to streamline things. I would be amazed if it gets a sequel.
33CurrerBell
Slight spoiler (but not much of a SPOILER, because it's obvious from looking at the movie's IMDb page):

I haven't seen the movie yet (though I probably will), but WHERE'S CLARISSE??? That's horrible! She's one of my favorite characters (though I've only read the first two books so far). I don't know how they can film the second book without having introduced Clarisse in the first movie.

What!? Really, Kirby? Wow. That should be some interesting backpedaling.
I haven't seen it yet, I'm just going off of what everyone else has said. I've been reading the spoilers in the other thread because I don't really feel spoiled on a story I already know.

Tried to comment last night but LT was down.
#35 lefty: That's what I've read on IMBD, and wiki.
Side note for those who are going to go see the movie:
Watch the credits. It's a scene I was disappointed they left out. We were walking out of the theater when it came on. Luckly I was only 1/2 way down the steps.

It may be supposed to be out in 2012, but I still can't see them doing a sequel. They left absolutely no open ends as far as I can remember.
38kirbyowns
I agree that they really messed up and backed themselves into a corner with this one. I've read that several of the actors are signed up for the entire series. Of course, you can't trust everything you read on the internet.
39Renald128
#36: Ohh thanks, I will stick until the end and the ushers kick me out of the theater to watch the scene ;).
#38: You can't trust everything on the internet? Hey I don't mess with your believes kirby :P...just kidding by the way.
Ok, I am believing that this movie has a curse and I may not be able to see it....first I couldn't go because of a Birthday (a friend of a friend) on Friday, then I had a family dinner on Saturday to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Sunday my friend had to work and yesterday I went to the movies and was 10 minutes late for the reservation and they had already released and sold all the tickets (which they never did on time before, I have arrived 5 minutes before the movie and the reservation was still there)...today I am trying for the last time, if I don't get to see it today I am taking it as a hint from the universe that I am not to enjoy this movie....
P.S. Sorry for the long post and mini-rant, I am going to forget the book and enjoy the movie *knocks on wood*
