Time for a new thread! Espy has been watching Firefly again -- I haven't had time to sit down and watch it with him, but the bits and pieces I've caught have made me want to watch it again, so I may be watching that some time soon. What about you?

I'm going to a play tonight! I have no idea if it's going to be any good, but I love live theater so it should be a fun time! :)

Nothing better than live theater in Chicago, elbakerone. Have fun!

MrA, some of the shirts are available at ThinkGeek.com.

>1 foggidawn: Foggi - A friend of my daughter joined us for dinner last night. She is catching up on the Stargate series but had never heard of Firefly before so, of course, we put the pilot, Serenity, on for her. Instant new addiction!

Breaking Bad, Treme and baseball. Lots & lots of baseball. Yay!

Breaking Bad, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, they're all enough to give TV a good name

#4 The Big Bang Theory is popular at my house. Sheldon reminds us of my dad, a lot. My dad knew the element song Sheldon sang a couple weeks ago.

Yesterday my mom received the complete series of Due South. So we were watching a lot of episodes. It's actually really funny.

I went to see Shutter Island with husband. So awesome!! I'll be tempted to buy that one when it comes out.

I rented Time Traveler's Wife at RedBox this week and I think I'm biased, having read the book. I didn't think the movie was awful like I had heard. Rachel McAdams was adorable.

Oh! And rewatching Sherlock Holmes. I'm a little embarrassed to admit how many times. Husband got it for me the day it came out to buy. :)

Apr 6, 2010, 10:11 pm

#14 lefty:
I would probably rewatch it a few times, too. Some parts were so quick! As someone who has never read any Sherlock Holmes books, I think I could rewatch the movie and notice something new each time for a bit.

I did something that I thought was slightly stupid this weekend by watching "Two Weeks Notice" while waiting to learn if I had...two weeks notice. (I knew something was fishy by Saturday.) It was one of those 'four film favorites' at Target so I watched "Music and Lyrics" after that. I couldn't get the song the main characters wrote together out of my head after that. I happily think it may finally be gone.

Is series 4 of Big Love showing in the USA yet? We've just bought the first three series due to a shameful addiction, and are facing a looming drought of polygamous soap opera.

I haven't watched tv in a few years. I wanted to watch Spartacus: Blood and Sand but found out it was on a pay channel. Sigh.

MrA - The latest series of Big Love just recently ended (it could have been the fourth). Always with a shocking ending, of course.

I never watched any of the reality/competition shows until we had the writers' strike a few years ago. They had marathons of America's Next Top Model to offer instead of new programming. That led me to a few other competitions. I wonder if they realize how they cut their own throats by forcing their viewers to find something else to watch. I hardly watch any network shows any more as a consequence.

Apr 9, 2010, 7:21 pm

I just realized I should have a new episode recorded from last night!

Hubby is working his way through ALL of Star Trek. I've learned all there is to know about Kirk & Jean Luc without the movies, and now we're roughly half a season into Deep Space Nine.

Shows I'm voluntarily watching include Big Bang Theory (Sheldon), Vampire Diaries (Damon), Gossip Girl (Chuck/Bass) and Castle. Ian Somerhalder keeps me addicted to the vampire show. It's no Buffy, but I can't resist a bad boy vamp.

@15: I feel for you about Two Weeks Notice. My last retail job hinted I was fired by txt message then refused to talk to me in person or on a phone call.

21katelisim
Apr 9, 2010, 7:58 pm

I love Big Bang Theory, but it's on when I'm in class :'(
Every once and a while I'll watch an ep online

Right now, I'm working my way through the 1st season of Supernatural. The new eps are getting way tense and wonderfully conflicted. But I thought I'd go back to the beginning when there was just monster killing action without the *insert big doom feeling drama bit, in a non-spoiler way* hanging over their heads

The Masters golf tournament. I want Phil Mikelson to win, but it would be great if Freddy Couples won, too.

The America's Best Dance Crew special that aired last night was fantastic!!! If you have never seen this genre of dance, now is your chance to see the best of the best. They brought back the winners of the five seasons for a special show where each crew danced for another young person involved with a special project. Randy Jackson, the producer of the show, donated $10,000 to each of them for their projects which included an HIV/AIDS testing and awareness program and a teen that started a cheerleading program that paired cheerleaders with disabled girls in their routines.

I am sure that MTV will air this show many times in the near future. I highly recommend that you DVR the show so you can fast forward through Mario Lopez's parts.

I started watching this show out of curiosity when it started and have continued to be amazed by the hard work and creativity shown by these young people. This type of dancing has become popular enough that the Jabberwokeez (sp?) have been booked at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Man in The Gray Flannel Suit"

33Citizenjoyce

I still like Project Runway. I also liked the alternative show that remained on Bravo, but I don't know if it'll be back. I can't figure out why designers feel they need to make black, black and more black clothes.

I'm about to watch last night's episode of Doctor Who on online catch up. (I think we're on episode three of the new season now.) When I know I'm working on a Sunday, I save Saturday night programmes to watch during quite times at work. Otherwise its a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong day.

43Citizenjoyce

#41 jnwelch, I call that the "real" Pride and Prejudice. Anyone who can resist Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy is a stronger woman than I.

44jnwelch
Apr 18, 2010, 5:45 pm

Yes, it's easily the best. My daughter loved finally being able to see the scene where he dives in the pond. She had seen "Lost in Austen" where Jemima Rooper asked Darcy to do that, which cracked her up.

I'm a fan of Jennifer Ehle's sparkle, personally. :-)

45MrAndrew

*thinks about #43*

I conclude that i am a stronger woman that Citizenjoyce. Q.E.D. Ipso facto. E pluribus unum. I rest my case.

btw, i don't recall any pond-diving in the book. What up with that? Did they add that just to get Colin Firth in a wet shirt?

My sister loaned me Glee season 1. I'm going to give it a shot while I work on dresses today. Megan insists that she doesn't like High School Musical and that Glee isn't like the movie. We'll see.

My family and I were supposed to go see "Les Miserables" last night but couldn't. We're going to try to go see it on Friday instead. It's playing at our city's high school. Instead last night we watched part of season one of "Friends."

I am enjoying the SyFy series, Merlin. The characters are engaging, the stories interesting, but things are very different from the usual stories. For instance, Merlin is the same age as Arthur and keeps his magic secret, Gwenevere is Morgana's servant, and Morgana is Uther's ward.

#55: It's actually a BBC series. :)

Last night we watched a PBS Masterpiece Theater production of Hamlet with David Tennant and Patrick Stewart as Claudius. It was probably the closest I came to really appreciating the play. (OK, I admit it, I usually zone out every time I've tried to watch Hamlet. I did not zone out this time.)

Kerian, I hope you get to the production of Les Miserables. I'll bet even though it's a high school group putting it on it'll be great. Not that Friends isn't a fine program, but the singing just doesn't compare.

I'm up to episode 18 of season 2 of Lost; our viewing has been cut back since Rachel started working, but I've made massive progress on my HP re-read in the time we would have been watching TV :) We also watched Taking Chance the other night; it was really touching without being saccharine.

While doing prom dresses lately, I watched Star Wars episodes 4-6. It had been a long time since I watched those! I'm thinking I will give episodes 1 and 2 another chance. I loved 3, but I have vague memories of disliking 1 and 2. Thankfully the library has them!

The Evil Emperor would look awesome in a sparkly black evening gown with push-up bra, lefty. Do something daring for Chewbacca. You know, to bring out his wild side.
