>9 iwillrejoice: it's just one more way to feed my addiction!! I ADORE IT!

Often, I listen to books that i know will be difficult to grasp all I want from the story...like now I'm listening to The Book Thief. The German dialect makes the book come alive for me. As did the dialect in The Thirteenth Tale.

But also when I am in a book that I can't stay away from I will read until I have to drive to my office and then pick it up on audio in my car. Audio's are new to me...but I'm a believer!!

Are those offered much on BM?

Just brought home 'Henry Adams and the Making of America' (2005) by Garry Wills. Even though is a softback book, at four dollars I could not pass it up.
For those who have never heard of Henry Adams, his masterwork 'The Education of Henry Adams' (1918) is considered as one of the finest English-language works of non-fiction of the twentieth century. It stands at the top of the list from Random House. The most distinctive thing about it is the extraordinarily melancholy viewpoint of the author. By his standards, Edith Wharton was a comedian.

I'm 3/4ths finished with Romancing Miss Bronte- not too bad, but it seems to move very fast in places, and in others too slow. Also there are a few passages were I feel like it looses the feel of a novel and starts to have more of a biography like tone. Overall though, an interesting novel.
I still have to decide what to read next-so many awesome TBR books backing up!

Another is sardonic and snarky and fascinating, The Abyss of Human Illusion. The last is poignant and beautiful and lovely and modest, Winter Garden by Pablo Neruda.

Currently reading two books: Paris: the secret History by Andrew Hussey. Really a great, entertaining history book that, for once explains why Parisiens are so different from other French people (lol)
and the second book "La reine dans le palais des courants d'air" aka The Girl who kicked the hornet's nest by Stieg Larsson. It will be interesting to see if the French translator kept the same quality and style that the English translator did.
When I was in France, it had not yet been released in the English version in the US and I was in a hurry to read it.

I'm mid-chapter three of The Death Collector by Justin Richards. Several of the characters work at the British Museum, the cover has an embossed dinosaur skeleton, and the author has written a number of Doctor Who books. Despite all this, I am feeling a little blah about it so far, possibly because my previous read was Gideon Defoe's The Pirates! Well - I just haven't found anything much for me on BM or at my thrifts, and I speed-read so it's not unusual for me to finish 3 or 4 adult books in a day, especially if I'm stuck riding city bus around as I have been lately.

My only TBR right now is kids books and lesson plan ideas, which I need to do at home when it's quiet. Did I mention I have a almost 4yo who thinks she is a cross between a monkey and an banshee? It's never quiet.

#123...

I read quite a few fanfictions... InuYasha (huge Sess/Kagg fan here!!!), Bleach, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Twilight and Avatar: The Last Airbender (go Zukara!!!). I also belong to more than just fanfiction.net. There is also Dokuga (a Sesshomaru and Kagome site) and Live Journal.

#124... I am a stay at home mom whose youngest started kindergarten last fall so before he started school I had a huge TBR pile of over 100 books and now... well I ran out in a year *blushes*. I can go through 3-4 books a week and that doesn't include the books I read to my children, collect for our school (we a poor district and in need of either more tape or better books) or books my children want themselves.

#125.... Our children must be related ha ha... I enjoy the quiet while they are in school and during the summer I invest in tylenol.

I simply cn't imagine being "out of books" to read!! Of course my quick reads are usually who-dun-its and I can't managed to read more than one per day. My other books are non-fiction/history/ or contemporary serious fiction that takes at least two days to read. Even with that, I read about three books a week. But my TBR list is at about 120 right now and I'm reading as fast as I can.

Just finished Paris The Secret History It's pretty heavy, so took me three days to read.

And now I am reading The Devil's Queen historical fiction about Catherine de Medici. I got caught up in the de Medici saga because of the great series on PBS.

#128 I never thought I would be out of reading material but for some reason I am... and I forsaw it coming which is why I joined Bookmooch to add to my book collecting. If nothing comes in by Monday's mail I will be at Goodwill for 50% off book day to see what is there.

I currently have 192 books in my tbr pile. Some are parts of a series in which I don't wish to start until I get the whole thing. My goal is to always keep it under 200 books and to be at 150 by September. Considering the high amount of books coming to me from various sites, I have some reading to do this weekend.

203>My wife just discovered the Bike Snob website and she WILL NOT stop talking about it. I'm a little afraid to learn they've issued a book!

Started reading Adam Bede on the plane... this book is squat and easy to pack, so it came with me :)

BSNYC has been a much loved read of many in the cycling world. I haven't seen his book show up yet (although I suppose I could order it online), but I will eventually read it.

As to what I am currently reading--Le Tour: a history of the Tour De France by Geoffrey Wheatcroft.

Started Wifey last night. How different it is to read it when I'm *not* a young kid sneaking looks at the "naughty book" I found. lol

I managed to finsh 2 books the last couple of days: Bayala, The Daughters of the Elf King by Gecko Keck and The Sight (Warriors: Power of Three, Book 1) by Erin Hunter and now my bathroom and living room books have become A Thousand Never Evers by Shana Burg and The Wings of Merlin (The Lost Years of Merlin) by T.A. Barron.

Sort of looking forward to the Wings of Merlin. I heard for anyone that loved Harry Potter that this is along the same lines and a good read. A lot of children in the school have been asking for the series, this is the last in the series but it happened to be available before I placed orders for the school, so I will start there LOL

I haven't read a thing in the last two days *gasp*

I've been too busy setting up bookshelves and sorting books. I found books I had no idea I already had!
