As you can see, I have a lot of African authors on my list. I'm spending two months in Uganda this fall, as a medical intern on a hospital in Kampala. I always like to read about the country I'm going to.
Have any of you read any gret books on Uganda/set in Uganda???
I would love to get some feedback on books on my TBR list if you have read any of these.

I like your list and I think I will add a few to my list. I read The Road, Mr. Pip, and one other David Sedaris book. Sorry to say I didn't care for any of them, but don't listen to me, I know there are others here who liked them. If you go to the 75 challenge you can find a whole thread about Midnight's Children. It was read as a group read about a month ago. Happy Reading!!!

Hi Therese,
Disgrace is excellent,The Road was beautifully written but a little too bleak for my liking, and I just couldn't bring myself to finish Wolf Hall. I really want to read Things Fall Apart, Middlesex and Half of a Yellow Sun so I'll be looking forward to reading your reviews!
The very best of luck to you in Uganda! My sister is a Dr. and worked for the last two summers in Malawi and said it was one of the most rewarding experiences in her entire life.

Finished Unaccustomed Eart today. It was a really wonderful collection of short stories. The first section consistes of stories with characters that has nothing to do with eachother except for being indian immigrants or children of indian immigrants in the US. The second part consists of stories with two protagonist that play a role in eachothers life. This last part was especially moving.
I will definitely add more of Lahiri's work to my TBR list of 2010!
