I was fortunate recently in finding a copy of Harold Chapman's, The Beat Hotel, photo journal book. Subtitled: nostalgia by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin, captions by Claire Parry, traduit par Brice Matthieussent, gris banal 'editeur, 1984. An oversized paperback that is to my knowledge fairly rare; there were ony two others listed on ABE. I was happy to find it tucked away in the basement stacks of a used bookstore in Western Mass. I knew of the book, ( not to be confused with Barry Miles', the beat hotel, from Grove Press, 2000, an excellent book as well ) but had never been lucky enough to find a copy of the Chapman book. I consider it a top shelf Beat item and I was very pleased to acquire it and add it to my modest Beat collection.
