I fail to add friends via the email searching feature.
When i enter my email it just goes back to the homepage.
Is there a workaround?

"Find Friends" has been broken for some time.
What are you trying to do? If you're trying to invite people to LT or tell them about your library, you can just send them an email with a link to your profile and catalog. That's mainly what the feature did.
If you're trying to find people you know who are on LT, you can go to the "Search" page and search usernames or real names under "Members and Locations."
If you're trying to add someone who's already on LT to your list of friends, then just go to that person's profile and click on "add to friends" at the top right of the profile.

Another Question concerning the practical workings of the "friend" option:
I would like to know--and haven't yet found anywhere--- a brief description of the technical practicalities of accepting "friends". That is, what does taking up the option entail? For a catalog that isn't public, are "friends" allowed to browse it while others cannot? That's the sort of thing I'm interested in understanding and why I pose the question.
In a site such as Facebook, as I understand it, adopting "friends" can mean lots of people who are associated through a friend gain wide access to the information on each of the others' friends, etc.
How does it work at LT?

and before you launch into add friends, you might wish to scan over the "How can I delete friends" thread around here somewhere. eeek

3 I couldn't find a really good explanation of this, but here are a couple of pages that might help.

The practical workings are pretty minimal. Friends don't have any special permissions, and they can't see into a private account. There is no information gain; it's not like Facebook. If you accept a friend invitation (or if someone else accepts yours), that person will be listed publicly on your profile as a friend, and vice versa. You will then show up on each other's "Connections" page and "Connection News" homepage module, which compiles recent information on all your contacts and libraries similar to yours. I think that's about it.

I edited the Help page on friends and connections to bring it up to date with the current features:

Great help page, rsterling. Thank you.
Is there a way to save a link to this, and other, LT Wiki Help pages for easy future reference, other than bookmarking the page?
