Iv got to say that mine would have to be the novels written by Eric Flint in the 1632 universe. The series is about a Virginian town that is transported to Germany in the middle of the 30 Years War.

I like Eric Flint as well but I prefer the Belisarius books ie An Oblique Approach. The 1632,1633 books is not bad but there is quite a bit of WE ARE AMERICANS AND WE WILL SAVE YOU. Can be a bit tedious, some parts is also a bit unlogical, particulary when they oufit a makeshift aircraft to carry homemade rockets, sounds dangerous. Why not just use bombs, it would certainly be much safer for the pilot.

Yes, the Belisarius series is incredibly good. It starts to go downhill after the 3rd or 4th book but that can be said about any series. Also David Drake's other series comprised in Conquerer, Warlord, and The Tyrant is well worth reading

I like the Lord Darcy books by Randall Garrett. The main character is a Sherlock Holmes style detective. It's set in an alternative England where magic exists and so a lot of technological advances never happened.
