I now know which next series (only own 4 so far, but have read 15 or so),
I will satisfy my "completist" urges on.

Hm, not sure if the surgery was "red" in the novels, that might have come from my other reading of the times.
Would a more authorative member please correct me?

ETA. I really can't spell, or at least words from that era, so I keep fiddling...

i also don't remember if that was mentioned in the O'Brian series, but it certainly was in the Hornblower books.
