Best Way to Find Out About Boston Readings?

Hi all,

I've been wondering, and this might be the perfect place to ask -- what's the best source for finding out about readings, signings, etc., in Boston?

I grab Improper every month and thumb through to the readings section before I toss it, but it isn't a publication that's exactly noted for being so... Um... Informative? Yeah.

The individual bookstore websites are the best way to find out who's reading. Brookline Booksmith, the Harvard Bookstore and Porter Square Books all have lots of events and they post them on their websites. A google search will find them. Most of the local magazines list them to, but I think it's easier to just browse through the websites than sort through the events calendars.

Harvard Bookstore also has an e-mail list you can sign up for -- they'll send you a weekly email with information about readings, sales, and also their weekly bestseller list (which is always pretty interesting - On Bullshit has been on the list for the past few months! This morning's Metro says Lisa Carey will be reading from Every Visible Thing at Brookline Booksmith on Thursday. Seemed to warrant a special mention here under the circumstances.

The best place I've found is the AGNI email list. Every reading and benefit in town makes it's way onto their list. Definitely worth checking out.
