The Zeppelin Conductors’ Society Annual Gentlemen’s Ball by Genevieve Valentine

Enjoyed a recent story by Genevieve Valentine in the online SF Mag Light Speed . The story features civilization’s reaction to a technological development (Airships) from the eyes of an individual. This type of story has always fascinated me. It made me think of a part of Keith Roberts’ novel Pavane. In particular the story “The Signaller” which tells the story of an apprentice semaphore operator who is assigned to a remote station. This takes place in an alternative world where semaphore signaling has been widely deployed.
