Reasons for participating in ReadaThing Read-a-thons

#1: I'm reading as part of a group, even though I'm in bed & in my jammies!

#2: I'm part of a community.

#3: any excuse for an uninterrupted hour of reading :)

#4: If I commit to the time, then I had a legitimate reason to read... and if I don't, I'm letting the group down... so I have to read!! People are depending on me to read my time commitment!! We cannot leave part of the day readerless!!

#I'm doing my bit for employment by reading a "starving artist's" work and supporting bookshop owners and their staff.

#6. Good PR for LibraryThing.

I am promoting literacy and the notion that reading is fundamental.

I am setting an example and reminding people there is more to entertainment and culture than TV!

I am feeling bonded to the community of readers I think about so much.

I am reading to enlighten myself about something new and for pure imaginative entertainment.

It's fun knowing there are a bunch of other people reading that day 'with you'!!!
