I just discovered the novel series called The Story of the Stone by Cao Yueqin and have started to read the first part. Has anyone read this that can comment on it? It's amazing that I have never heard of it before, as it is considered one of the most important novels in Chinese Literature.

You may know it by other titles, "Dream of the Red Chamber" or "A Dream of Red Mansions"?

There is a "Story of the Stone, Red Chamber - Read along" thread in the "Ancient China" group. We're up to Chapter 32, but we move ahead slowly, so you shouldn't have much trouble catching up. In the mean time, you may enjoy reading the older posts regarding the parts your read so far. I hope you can join us.

BTW, your touchstone work appears to be something unrelated to the classic novel by Cao Xueqin.

#3, yes, I don't know why the touchstone didn't function properly. Thanks for the Ancient China info. I am just on Chapter Three but would love to follow along.

Hello Jose, please feel free to join in, ask and discuss (here or in the other thread). I'd be happy to talk about the earlier chapters too.
