I have taken the first steps to bring about the coming together, on a totally non profit basis, of Janeites in South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward and South Palm Beach Counties), centered in central Broward.
If you live within a convenient drive of central Broward and are interested in being part of this, please email me at arnieperlstein@myacc.net, and I will tell you about how I plan to make this happen by the Spring of 2011.
If you like what you hear, then I ask you to spread the word, it will partly be by networking and word of mouth that we generate a large enough group to make it interesting for everybody.
I believe that among the millions of people who live down here, there must be at least a thousand Janeites, maybe more, like needles in a large haystack. And yet we are by far the largest metropolitan area in the U.S. WITHOUT a chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America (there is a small chapter up in West Palm Beach).
