Damn ... it doesn't seem to work on my system ... I get a warning about it needing an updated "VIA AGP chipset driver", but the web site it sends me off to doesn't have any such update (and the installed driver is more recent than any available for download from the manufacturer's site) ... yet the client crashes every time it tries to load. Bummer!

However, if you want to toss me a LibraryThing t-shirt in-world (assuming I'll get the driver issue taken care of), my new account there goes by the name of Eschatos Graves (oooh, all goth-like and spooky, eh?)!

I'm Callimachus* Snook. Sorry about the technical issues. It was being glitchy on John and he has the second-best Mac laptop money can buy. It surprises me, actually, that the graphics aren't better. I haven't seen a first-person shooter in a few years, but this looks only a little better than Doom, and not to the level of Unreal. I guess the massively multiplayer part matters.

I've got a couple of folks on my LiveJournal friends list who are constantly posting screen shots of themselves over there ... but they probably have "gaming" machines.

Another friend commented on my post about this, saying that she's had issues there too, with SecondLife not liking her PC's video, and not liking her Mac's lack of RAM.

The book head box is great, Tim. Thanks once again.

Meeting starts in almost a half hour. Hope to see some folks there!

Yeah. Free white or black t-shirts and free head boxes with your favorite book on it (as fast as I can make those).

Oh dear. I joined it and I am now completely lost - I found a search screen and looked for bookmooch and timspalding but managed nothing. No need to help if I'm just too stupid for words...

Update: I joined the Librarything group but not sure how that helps me...

The link just brought up a blank screen with a thing about what slurls are to the left but a big blank square and "error on page". Sorry about that.

All I got was the blank screen, too - most frustrating!

I crashed while they were on the Info Island. It took me a while to return and of course, they were all gone somewhere . . . I expect, playing in the Sandlot. (There are so many Sandlots in SL, though.)

Boys will be boys!

It was a great deal of fun. So many LTers dropped by and we had these hilarious boxes on our heads which Tim made for us. We outnumbered the Book Moochers. I wouldn't mind perhaps 2 meetings a week . . . just to allow people who can't make it on Sunday . . . have another day to play . . .

Well, I had a chat with the folks at TigerDirect and I had a chat with the folks at E-Machines, and it looks like I might be able to upgrade to something that would work for SL for about $35 (plus shipping). Hmmm ... is having SL as an amusement option going to be worth more than a lifetime sub to L.T.???

Message 16: BTRIPP -- I don't know. I tried it once and, after about ten minutes, uninstalled the whole thing; it takes up a LOT of memory. I guess I'd rather live in real life than in cyberspace. Besides, who has the time between reading real books and keeping up with LT? My SL avatar would have to be playing by herself.

Are there plans for another get-together?

Is there a SUnday get together every Sunday? I am LyzzyBee Lundquist and I'm on Info Island but I can't find anyone...

I usually go to the BookMooch area, because they DO have a sundy get-together and there are some cool people there.

I'm on the wrong computer today and...hmm. I could bring my laptop in here and get really geeky being on two computers at once... ;)

Sorry I was there then disappeared - the phone rang, the internet cut off, SL crashed and I couldn't get it back open!

Maybe next week...!

I had to work this weekend, so I wasn't there. Just made the tail-end of my Humanism meeting. Humanism? Avatarism? Whatever. Last week I had to leave early for a b-day romp. Another year older and some more grey hair.
See you next week, maybe?

I wa late too. Was changing at my place on SL and a faun showed up at my door. My neighbor, (in the Role-Playing Land I'm renting in) a French teacher who was up late because of their elections. And he happened to be wearing the avatar of a 2-hoofed Narnian faun. We almost never see each other because of the time zones.

By the time I showed up at Bookmooch, everyone was gone!

Yes, please do show up on Sundays. --- Moss

Apr 29, 2007, 12:50 pm

I was there, but at 11am Central rather than Pacific. Unfortunately, by 11am Pacific I'm going to be off at a fundraiser for my daughters' school, so I'm going to be missing it this week as well!

I hope to be with you shortly but it's insisted on downloading an update! Wait for me someone!

We'll be there next week--as well. I do believe SLT (Second Life Time) is Pacific Time since Linden Labs is in San Francisco.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get my rental put together by Sunday so you can all come visit. Its a tower apartment called Aenil Tir in a land called Amauera (think Lothlorien from Lord of the Rings) but a little scarce of elves. But there's a rogue elephant on the premises that plays dead.

(I've only met a faun and a rather bloodthirsty Prince there--so far) And we can only fly into the place--there's sort of a landing pad). Beautiful view and we have a piano you can play!

But I can always TP you there from Bookmooch.

IM me when you are in SL--Mossflower Schumann.

(Hi LyzzyBee. We'll make a pro out of you yet. You'll be zipping all over the place in no time flat.)

(BlueSalamanders, Simon, Lludmilla, Faery -- is it Shiva? (I'm not even sure she's in LT. She might be Bookmooch-- Hallo!)

(BTripp/Eschatos--looking forward to seeing you

Shiva is in both but Bookmooch is where she is active.
