It has been several months since his first dragon fiasco, but Beck is still getting into trouble. His latest escapade puts him in the hospital. While he is recuperating a strange man shows up and tells him that he must find the last dragon egg and hatch it, otherwise the dirt will be angry. When one of the plants in his room attacks him, Beck is inclined to believe the strange old man. So Beck sets out to find the egg and stop whatever strange new things are going on. Of course, he will get into plenty of trouble along the way.

This was an quick, entertaining read. I continue to enjoy Beck’s slightly sarcastic take on the world. The plot went a little confusing at the end. I lost track of who was pretending to be whom and for what show more reason. Other than that it was a fun read and I’m looking forward to the next book. show less

The second in the Pillagy (Pillage Trilogy). It has been a year since the dragons pillaged Kingsplot in Pillage. Beck meets a mysterious pale man who gives him instructions to hatch the egg left behind by the last dragon. The egg produces a queen dragon superior to previous dragons. Beck is supposed to kill the queen before it matures but his failure to do so results in more troubles for Beck and his friends and family.

I really liked the drawings at the end of each chapter and the twist at the end.
Elly says: This is the second book in the trilogy. Still in trouble, not common sense - you know he's going to mess up again and he does, when convinced to hatch the last dragon egg. Good for a younger fantasy reader, even though there is a love interest. Getting less believeable as the story progresses, but still fun to read.
