I had forgotten how good this movie is; if you haven't seen it since the 90s like I hadn't, do yourself a favor and remind yourself. Apparently a comedy about the holocaust can be funny after all.

La Vita È Bella is intense to say the least AND does heavily invest on emotions. It is one of the typical cases of opinion division between the viewing masses (who loved it to the point of catharsis) and the majority of critics (who downplayed it). Guido, un giovane ebreo amante della vita e della poesia, si reca ad Arezzo con l'amico Ferruccio in cerca di lavoro. Guido Orefice, ebreo romantico nell'Italia di Mussolini, raggiunge 'senza freni' Arezzo. Assunto come cameriere al Grand Hotel sposa Dora, la principessa precipitata dal cielo e promessa a un grigio funzionario di regime.
