Many of the Collectors Publications issues are currently being reprinted, notably by Ophelia Press, which suggests that we are currently (2010) regaining the permissive state of erotic publishing that began in the late 1960s and persisted well into the 1970s. This volume seems to test the boundaries present in 1969, although it does so gingerly. It is essentially a pictorial survey of libidinous sex, mostly avoiding photography and concentrating instead on drawings and lithographs. Captions are in English, German and Swedish, with some introductory material only in English, and this gives the collection a scholastic air, although it cannot be said that such texts are particularly authoritative. Some of the book's moral judgements sit rather awkwardly in today's sexuality-enlightened times. Nevertheless, there is a copious provision of images, which might make it interesting to some. ( )
