Interesting, simple creation myth for children to delve deeper into the world of myths and folklore. ( )

The Grandmother Spider Brings the Sun is a perfect example of a book that might be used with K-4 students during the study of folklore or Native Americans. Clay Pottery, spiders, elders and fire are all prominent themes that both the author and illustrator do a wonderful jobs portraying.
The only downside the the books: children could view the portrayal of a "dark side" and "light side" that do not share as either scary or a representation of not sharing being acceptable.
