I enjoy reading Dekker books. This one got me going in many different directions, in fact I had to go back to the beginning of the book to remember who one of the main characters killed and why. Good twist at the end of the book really enjoyed that! ( )

Thought Dekker made some good points on Law vs Grace using a very exciting though graphic story. However I felt like there was some conflict between writing an exciting story and making a theological point. I also felt like the law was portrayed as bad itself - not just attempting to live by it. Nevertheless his overall point that the attempt to live by the law is ultimately self destructive is well taken. ( )

`The Priest's Graveyard' is a philosophical thriller that follows the troubled lives of its two protagonists whose paths inevitably cross. Danny Hansen is a soul-scarred survivor of the Balkan War and is now a Roman Catholic Priest in the U.S. Renee Gilmore is prostitute and addict from a broken home. Both respond to their respective traumatic pasts by engaging in acts of vigilantism, which they feel are justified by their ends; bad people are no longer able to continue hurting good people.

This book is intense, thrilling and challenging. It messes with your mind and you're not sure what's right and what's wrong. How far would you go, rather, how far should you go, to stop someone from hurting someone else? At what point do you step back and say "that person is just going to have to suffer, I won't do anything to help them"? The end was a surprise to me. I did enjoy the book. ( )
