Very hardboiled look at the seamy side of Dallas, complete with some unusual lowlifes. In spite of the silliness of the hero's name, the style is a mix of classic PI (think Estelman) with touches of James Lee Burke, especially in the hick bad guys.
This was the first book in the Oswald series that I read.
Being from Dallas, it was fun to read about all of the places that I am familiar with. If you are not from Dallas, Hunsicker helps you find your way around.

"Oswald" is the type of guy that everyone wishes they knew on a personal basis. In this book you will get to know who "Oswald" is and what he is about.

Hunsicker will keep you on edge, and make you crap your pants with laughter all at the same time. The interaction between characters are flawless.

The Next Time You Die, is a very fast read. Enjoy!
Great noir...it’s a little violent but the story is ok. In this book you get some more background on our hero and his past. The relationships with the characters are interesting. It gives you the flavor of Dallas. Its interesting Noir! Basically its fun! Lots of action that never lets up.
Very similar to Hunsicker's first entry, Still River, following it closely but with enough new material to keep your interest I give it a strong recommendation to all noir PI fans, and a definite must-read if you're also from north Texas.
