I read this a while ago, and actually went back to change my rating to 5 HUGE stars this book deserves. The first time I read this I was pregnant, and like most expecting parents, I had this vision of what kind of parent I wanted to be. We all want to be the best version of ourselves for our kids, it is the most natural thing there is. However, once those sleepless nights kick in, you fight off post-partum depression, or just get stuck in the routine and wanna lie down binging on your favorite show while your crawling baby demands every moment of your time - things drastically change. We tend to be happy with being a good-enough parent while trying to keep our own sanity.
But, Tsabary knows there is another way. Yes, sometimes it is show more difficult to be mindful of the moment, to be here right now with a screaming infant in tow. However, it is an immense opportunity to grow, to dive deep and get rid of the patterns that have been blocking us maybe since our own childhood. This book, especially the parts talking about why each stage of your baby's life is so special, really helps you get back on track and appreciate every moment.
I highly recommend this book.

Shefali Tsabary, PhD, received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, New York. Dr. Tsabary was exposed to Eastern mindfulness at an early age and integrates its teachings with Western psychology. This blend of East and West allows her to reach a global audience. Her ability to appeal to both a psychologically astute and show more consciousness-driven audience establishes her as one of a kind in the parenting field. Dr. Tsabary has worked with a varied demographic: survivors of the Asian Tsunami, women from economically disadvantaged countries, inner city youth, suburban families, the elderly and infirm, and corporate leaders. She lectures extensively on mindful living and conscious parenting around the world and is in private practice. She resides with her husband and daughter in New York. show less
