Absolutely loved the book! The book had a rhythmic tone that kept the reader flowing as they read. The book also had amazing and fun illustrations to keep readers' attention. ( )

This is a good example of poetry because it combines rhyme and rhythm to create a story that is fun to read and fun to hear. The plot line is minimal and the focus is on each word being placed at just the right spot to make the story rhyme. This is a narrative poem, but it still tickles the ears and is fun to hear. The point of view in this story is third person omniscient. Although the story is mainly about Dumpy, we get to know the thoughts and feelings of all the characters.

Dumpy La Rue wants to dance! And he does, despite protestations from his family and barnyard friends. I liked Dumpy's spirit, but found the sometimes rhyming/sometimes not rhyming text to be an uneven read aloud. ( )

This pig knows he wants to dance. Though no one thinks he can, he finds his passion and love for dancing. ( )
