Tis the season - the potty season, that is. One way to prove your mamahood is by letting others know that you are excited when your daughter starts asking for the poop book at bedtime. Weird, yes, but it shows that she is finally interested in the potty process. Besides, this book is just fun to read. It teaches children that pooping is a natural process, one that all living creatures must perform if they eat food, and it uses simple, no-nonsense language that demystifies excrement. Still, years of training can't be completely undone by common sense, and I dare you to try and read this book without giggling. Nonetheless, the lesson is important for kids to learn: poop is a part of life, don't be ashamed of it and don't be afraid of it. show more The book is also a classic tool in the potty training battle. If your kids are at the right age, they'll like this book, and it will help you in the long task of teaching them how to be toilet sufficient. show less
There are many reasons that I enjoyed this book. The first reason that I liked it is because it tackles a topic that most people usually avoid. For example, the book explained how certain animals go to the bathroom (i.e. stopping to go or walking and pooping). The book is helpful for children who are being potty trained or who are ashamed of going to the bathroom. In addition, I liked the illustrations of this book because they enhanced the message of the story. For example, I liked the pages of the book that asked questions such as what end of the snake does its poop come from? This page was enhanced with an illustration of a snake. The main idea of this book is that it is in our nature to poop; therefore you should be ashamed of the show more process. show less
This is a humorous book that visually shows the reader that everyone certainly does poop. Both the pictures and the words make me laugh throughout the entire book. This is great for young children so that they may see that there are some things that people have some things in common with animals too. The strength is the humor of it all. How can you not laugh?
I think this story is very informative and would be great for a body talk in preschool. It discusses how some things we see as gross are actually extremely normal and I think it can help us connect with other species instead of separating ourselves onto this higher plane. We poop too!
“Everybody Poops” was a funny book that I really liked. First, I liked how the author described all the ways different living things pooped through his illustrations and words. It was funny to see how he depicted various animals pooping and what it looked like. In one part the author says, “Different animal make different kinds of poop. Different shapes. Different colors. Even different smells.” On the same page he showed the behinds of a bunch of different animals and what their poop looked like through his illustrations. I also liked how he describes where different things poop like on the go, in a bathroom, in a diaper or in the water and showed a picture to visually depict all of the different places and things pooping show more there. I thought it was good that for every description of what was pooping and where they were doing it, the author had a visual. I also liked the book for how it was written. It was very straight-forward about such a funny and gross topic, which I think is good because I think the message was better received with a casual tone. If the book had been written in a way that was flashy about the subject of pooping or serious people would not have understood that, “Everyone Poops” was just a simple book that wanted to tell kids about the simplicity of going number two. The big idea of “Everyone Poops” is funny but important. Most kids have a hard time being potty trained and are sometimes embarrassed by the fact that they poop. What the book tells kids (and probably even some shy adults) is to not worry about pooping or be embarrassed by it, because it is a very normal activity that every living thing does. show less
I think this book is so funny! People everywhere love it and it is a great tool to promote potty training. Kids love reading this while they are learning about their own bodies and health.
