highlighting the important roles that dads play in the animal world

A picture book that shows the different dads of the animal kingdom and their roles with raising their young, from the special sack of a daddy seahorse to the emperor penguin babysitting.

This book describes the differences between the role of fathers among different types of animals. This is a good book for children to read to be informed about how fathers can behave differently than their own, especially when they are not human. This exposes children to the variety among animals and that even male seahorses give birth! I would recommend this book to children learning about animals and the differences among them. The moral of the story is that some fathers have different strengths and perform different roles based on their species. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. It's topic is something that is not commonly discussed in children's books. The book tells the reader the different way that animal dads take care of their children. The art in this book is also something that is somewhat unique in that it is an animal book that uses collage as opposed to pictures or simple drawings. I think this book would be a great addition to a classroom because it offers information that is not usually presented to children. ( )
