Sammy Keyes finds herself on the case again, when she has to find a missing Pomeranian. Seems the pup is quite valuable and the owner is a real pain. Also Sammy was responsible for the dog during its riding on a float in the Christmas parade, but the dog escaped!
As Sammy investigates, she finds the dog’s owner is quite a despicable person, and isn’t like by many who know her. Could this be a kidnapping and that is why Sammy can’t find the pup?
Sammy also finds herself with a “runaway elf” on her hands, named Elyssa. A little girl in need of a friend and also has some serious questions on her mind.
A theme that runs through this book is “loss. Different characters have loved ones they have lost through death or otherwise, and show more find they’ve yet to deal with it.
This is a fun read from a series. Sammy is pretty smart and not afraid to go after a solution when there is a mystery or problem to solve. show less

1. Sammy befriends young Elyssa who is still coping with her cop father’s death
2. The manipulative Mrs. Landvogt makes Sammy find her pomeranian dog which disappeared during the Christmas parade.
3. The dreaded Mrs. Graybill takes ill and dies.
4. Sammy schemes to expose Heather Acosta as the person who let loose the cats at the Christmas parade.
Seems to be less mystery than it is Sammy’s personal growth.

Ok but not my favorite. got surprisingly dark and serious at times. Continual use of the g slur very jarring.
Sammy is about to realize that not all people like being nice and good when Christmas comes around the corner. She has to worry about finding a Pomeranian dog for Mrs. Landvogt, the most known evil "crocodile" in town. Meanwhile, Heather Acosta is not giving up teasing and testing Sammy and her patience, but boy, does Sammy have one for her. While the tables are turning, and Sammy is busy looking after a persistent little girl named Elyssa, Sammy also worries for her dying neighbor, Mrs. Graybill. Sometimes, Christmas' can be that complicated! Read the hilarious and smart Sammy as she goes in after the mystery of who stole Mrs. Crocodile's pet doggy.
