Book 1 of 2 Stories of Gibbie

A wonderful story but a better sermon of how life and death should be met. ( )

The story of "Sir Gibbie's" best friend, Donal Grant. Donal intends to be a teacher; takes a tutoring position and falls in love with Lady Actura. Mystery, suspense,m adventure and a gentle love story.

A companion novel to "The Baronet's Song" featuring Sir Gibbie. ( )

This is pretty much a sequel to The Baronet's Song or to Sir Gibbie. It follows the life of Donal after his part in that story. I don't know whether the twists and the turns of the plot were old hat even in MacDonald's time. You'll have a definite sense of deja vu on these. However, the book is not about the plot. It's about the people, and the people are wonderful. The book is also about the theological push against seeing God the Father as someone who is basically angry and against people, who was placated by a loving Jesus. MacDonald says God has always been a loving Father. ( )

I love this book! The setting is a gothic castle- complete with secret/hidden doors, hidden rooms, mysterious music, and a VERY creepy secret. ( )
