On the class trip to the Crystal Caverns, Rainbow Fish is paired with young Tug and when Tug is missing, Rainbow Fish feels responsible.
This book is a good example of a fairy tale. There are good characters and bad characters (different fish) and the fish all have humanistic characteristics. The conflict is resolved quickly and easily with a good, happy ending for all and the whole thing is told for the amusement of children.
